There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

The keyword here is "PayPal". The difference is about $30-40 I think, i.e. about 10%. Perhaps it's worth it for someone who doesn't have an easy way to acquire BTC and/or wants to use a credit card. It's $486 on Amazon and apparently selling well: #1 Best Seller in Computer Servers. Edit: On Bitmain's site it's $456 shipped to USA for a single unit, so $24 or ~5% difference.

Yet, too bad there is no such group buy for European customers I would do one if paypal lifted my limitations. My PayPal is still limited since my u1 PayPal group buy EU. OP make sure your PayPal account is business and filled in all tax details. Or else they will limit your transaction amount per year to around $500 or something.

It is Paypal Approved!! And question to 5% or so more expensive... Yes, there is a cost to run it on Paypal as Paypal requires signature confirmation on the product. That is another $7 and credit card percentage. If the USA Paypal Group Buy is a success, then EU portion may start To Participate, please PM your Paypal Email address and you will receive a Paypal Invoice for Antminer S5 Yet, too bad there is no such group buy for European customers I would do one if paypal lifted my limitations. I would also bring up as a long time buyer-seller on paypal. (2003) Many people get discounts from paypal.
I get a standing 2% minimum discount that does not affect the seller's bottom line.
So that 480 paypal price now = 480 - 9.60 or 471.40. Once I get my s-5 today I may do a paypal buy for 1 more. So if btc changes and shoots up I
paid in cash.
I also belong to square trade and as amazing as it sounds I most likely could get a 2 or 3 year warranty on this item for 30 or 40 usd more.
Not sure I want to do that but it is a possible option.

Seems like I can go to Bitmain and get them quite a bit cheaper that this group buy.
I'm likely confused... but $408 is less than $480 last I checked.

That is because this is a PAYPAL GROUP BUY. PAYPAL charges people % and it's dangerous to trade with PayPal as you can charge back. That's why the price per unit is higher.

899 for 2 on bitmaintech.com shipped to the usa. 455 for 1 on bitmaintech.com shipped to the usa vs 480 for 1 with paypal. so an extra 25 dollars I can get a 2 % discount or I can take 6 months no interest to pay it.

With BTC dropping down to ~$300 USD, this seems like a good time to buy via fiat. Looking to pick up at least another... PM'd !

why would it be better to buy in fiat and effectively pay premium when you can instant buy BTC on coinbase?

I would rather buy with a miner with fiat due to the BTC/USD price being so low, and I'm additionally purchasing coin via Coinbase while everything is so low. *shrugs* Seemed to make more sense buying with fiat than with BTC that I have previously mined.
