There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I just noticed that the S5 comes out in a week or so, since it would cost the same for 2 S3 or 1 S1, I probably should just wait and get a S5....

You already answered your own question, but buy S5 cause it is the most energy efficiency.

Depends on what you pay for electric and if you already have PSU's or need to buy them as they need to be figured in. You can buy the S3's used at a better price than new and nobody knows yet just how well the S5 runs.

I also think you mean to say S4 instead of S1?

I would recommend S5 as for better power efficency, but watch official thread:

Even if he has free electricity, he most likely does not have unlimited electric capacity so he will want to be conscious of electric efficiency. Otherwise he is going to be giving up potential revenue.
