Considering selling my Pobjoy Proof quad metallic coin if the offer is right (dont even consider spot offers Wink )

Produced in 2007 to date this is the first and only quad metal coin to use Palladium and with a mintage of only 999 pieces.

999.5 Platinum (2.78 gms) - Center circle of coin
999.9 Gold (4.221 gms) - 1st ring
999. Palladium (3.90 gms) - 2nd ring
999. Silver (4.65 gms) - outer ring

The coin is struck to proof quality 4 times to produce the design -

Pobjoy Mint in 2007 make minting history with this stunning quad metal coin from British Virgin Islands. This quad metal coin are using four precious metals Proof Fine Silver, Palladium, Fine Gold and Platinum. This coin is still the only Quad metal coin with Palladium. Palladium is a rare and lustrous silvery-white metal that was discovered in 1803 by William Hyde Wollaston, who named it after the asteroid Pallas, which in turn, was named after the epithet of the Greek goddess Athena, acquired by her when she slew Pallas.

A must, not only for those collectors who are fans of groundbreaking and innovative minting, but also for those who love coins with an intriguing story. The value of the coin is a Royal, which is the English spelling of the Spanish Ryal. This historic Spanish coin used to be cut into four to break it down into smaller change. It’s from these Ryal quarters that the famous US Quarter got its name. It’s in honour of the Ryal and the Quarter that Pobjoy Mint has chosen to ‘quarter’ this new coin using four precious metals Proof Fine Silver, Palladium, Fine Gold and Platinum. This is not all though, the maritime theme is a tribute to sailors of days gone by who used to believe the earth was made up of four elements: fire, earth, water and air.

I wish they would stop putting the queen on the coins. The reverse is always nice, but that queen ruins it for me...she is just ugly to look at  Tongue

No idea what spot is but I'd offer 1.2x spot or $500 whichever is a greater amount. Probably not something you'd consider but let me know!

Im in the UK and we have to pay VAT @ 20% on silver, palladium and platinum so spot + 20% is basically spot here Sad

She looks a lot better in Platinum Smiley

Yep, thats where I got it.

The seller had it listed far too cheaply so grabbed it quick Wink

Melt price is not that far off £300 + this is a 999 mintage quad metalic proof coin and the only one that has used palladium is the design.

Retail price in 2007 was £591.49 + VAT so £710

http://lunaticg.blogspot.co.uk/2009/08/worlds-first-quad-metal-coin.html

Bet you cant find another for sale anywhere.

Spot price is currently:

Silver (4.63 grams) = $2.34
Gold (4.21 grams) = $160.11
Platinum (2.78 grams) = $107.61
Palladium (3.9 grams) = $99.81

Total = $369.97

Total x 1.2 = $443.84

Tbh 3 BTC seems a bit overpriced (especially when you've bought it for 300 GBP a few days ago). Finding another one might be difficult but we can't compare prices so it's quite hard to come up with an estimated value.

You are also forgetting if you purchased individual proof coins around the 1/10 size the premium would be huge.

A single bump before it gets locked away in the safe for another day Smiley
Beautiful coin nonetheless, thank you for showing it so I can keep a look out for another one when looking at markets like ebay.

Get sick. Get well.
