was this coin related to olympcoin before its rename?

No - We have no association with 'olympcoin' - our previous name was OlympicCoin. The development team started work on the coin in 2013 and we launched under the name OlympicCoin in 2014 to celebrate the spirit of the Winter Olympics that year. Our first block rewards paid tribute to the Olympic games actually. The first reward to miners was a random amount between  1894 - 2014. For those who don't know the IOC formed in 1894 so that's why this start date was chosen: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Olympic_Committee

You can read about the full coin history on the first page of this thread!

this dev replying with very close details and incite to past issues is a bit refreshing.
a far cry from the numerous old projects that simply vanish with no input or responses at all.
watching this project and look forward to what may be in the future.
Dev - Thanks for being Genuine !

We appreciate the support Robert - Aricoin has a bright future and members like you will help us get there faster!

Thanks for the reply!
The reason i asked is because i bought a ton of olympcoin on yobit 2 days ago, transferred to my wallet, but its not syncing.
Im beginning to think that ive been caught out. Can you clarify if olympcoin is to do with you chaps or not?

We have no association with the 'olympcoin' project.

The only exchange we currently recommend is Cryptopia: https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange?market=ARI_BTC

Please ensure Aricoin is allowed through firewall and you have latest version:

My wallet cannot connect to the network either. Same thing is showing on the Hash-to-coins website. My firewall settings allow Aricoin wallet to connect to internet - I'm not sure how but there is something wrong with the Aricoin network

this all depends on how ofter you get payouts i think, exchanges dont like to get small amounts every 5 minutes.

Our pool payouts are now every 3 hours, so that won't be a problem. But allways be carefull with your coins, you worked hard for Wink
