Ok first off here are my hardware and software specs:

Windows 8.1 64bit
Lenovo G510
Self powered usb hub
Arctic usb powered mini fan
Avalon 3 Nano ASIC Miner

Ok here is my problem, I downloaded the install files for the Avalon nano and i installed it but it wont work with cgminer or bfgminer. I have searched around for days and days trying to find the problem. It was supposed to have a pop up window when i connect the usb miner but that doesn't work. Also i am using BTCGuild and it works when i gpu mine. Does anybody know what I might be doing wrong?

If i can't figure it out i am going to return it to amazon.

No experience using one with windows, but it seems to work find with cgminer and a recent version of Ubuntu.  The only hitch was that I needed to add these options to the cgminer command line or it kept connecting and disconnecting from the device:

--icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 0.22

If you are not sure about how to do the command line "stuff"  as you put it,   then it sounds like a user error vs. a problem with your Nano.   I would start by opening the folder for cgminer  and reading the  README .   you will also need to replace the driver using zadig.    before doing anything read the README .  you will never be able to correctly run the Nano without knowing how to use the mining software.

Sorry if I sound brash,  but it will be hard to even start to help if you dont know how to properly run the software,  be it  bfgminer or cgminer.   There are plenty of people who will be willing to help get you going,  but its hard to help if you dont know what to do when someone tells you how to configure the miner.

I don't need to read the README, i've read it a thousand times. I havnt had a problem using my laptop's AMD graphics card, which with the G510 is not the default graphics card. That one took a while to figure out. But i found an error in the nano's code and i don't know how to fix it because i can't code yet. It is just the first time i am using an external ASIC miner so i am a little confused. Would you happen to know any sites that are informative about the command line and the .conf setup for asic miners?

I also am not sure if the nano is able to run on 8.1, but i could be wrong. Does anyone know if the Avalon nano works on Windows 8.1 64bit?
