The problem I have with LTC is that its main function when designed was that its GPU hostile. Now that its turned out thats not the case, I fail to see the use of LTC. Its just BTC with a different hash function & block generation times.

Exactly why go for something that is essentially failing at what it set out to do.

Nope, it isn't. If someone was to develop an ASIC chip for litecoin they'd have no problem 51% attacking the crap out of it.

This may defeat the purpose of litecoins but they still have some value so who cares

Hasn't the penny dropped yet? Litecoin is a scam. It's well documented.

Litecoin isn't a scam. Show me the evidence if you think it is.

Litecoin is just another failed altchain. It has no benefit over Bitcoin.

There are very few (if any) hashing functions that are properly GPU hostile, and now that FPGA & ASIC is out for Bitcoin, it is impossible to have a CPU-only altchain as eventually people will make FPGA chips designed to run that function more efficiently than CPU's.

Litecoins are probably going to hang around for a bit. With Reaper, miners will be able to use their GPU's for something, considering Bitcoin is becoming GPU hostile (advent of FPGA and ASIC). IMO Litecoin may be the biggest bitcoin 'alternative' for a while

If you love me, you'd give me a Satoshi!

The part under the massive heading that says 'Pyramid scheme'.

Yeah I seen that alright

Quote
Pyramid scheme

Since the aforementioned reasons mean Litecoin has no future potential, it effectively functions as a pyramid scheme, rewarding those who get in sooner at the expense of those who adopt it just before it finally fails (and are left with nothing). This is not the case for Bitcoin, since it has significant potential to become a long-term currency and continually be beneficial to adopters no matter when they begin using it.

A scam is a fradulent business scheme. Litecoin is now only a pyramid scheme because it has failed as a reliable currency. When it was built the intention was not to swindle people out of money. All that is happened it Litecoin has died and its coins are now collectors items.

Litecoin is a failed currency, not a scam.

Failed project ≠ scam

Gimme a break, so because I just made a bitcointalk account (for the sole purpose of replying to your nonsense by the way) That makes be a noob? And the only thing you can come up to refute me is a comment about how many posts i've made in a forum? Well done....

Your entire thought process and sense of reason is staggeringly dim.

I couldn't get it to mine any litecoins. All it says is could not connect to server.

Code:
Error 6 getting work. See http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html for
error code explanations.
2012-07-05 19:36:41 Couldn't connect to server. Trying again in a few seconds..

I've configured the litcoin.conf file as directed in the how to use, with lc.ozco.in pool.

I deleted the solidcoin and bitcoin files, also I edited the reaper.conf file and removed solidcoin and bitcoin, so the program seems to want to mine litecoin now but throwing the error 6 error.

Error 6 means

Quote
CURLE_COULDNT_RESOLVE_HOST (6)

Couldn't resolve host. The given remote host was not resolved.

check your litecoin.conf file for reaper - make sure you are not adding http:// to the hostname. Reaper does that on it's own.
any luck?

Litecoin is a failed currency, not a scam.

Failed project ≠ scam

The project itself is not a scam.

But the people who try to convince you to participate in their penny stocks for no good reason are certainly scammers.

You can invest or not if you want, LTC like bitcoin is probably better for trading them stockpiling...

But ATM it seems to be growing fast than bitcoin by far which is pretty stagnant...
