How to store a paper wallet secure?

Hello,

I'm using paper wallets a long time now. But my question now is:

Does anyone have an idea how I can store my paper wallet secure?

Which paper is the best that the wallet data will not fade?

Why not seal it into foil that's transparent? Should protect against moisture and fading.

Lamination would lock it in pretty well.  Just do a home kit (Don't ship it off to a company and trust then with wallet).

I think one of the biggest things is printer, use one in private a "dumb" printer is best but a lot will be able to store prints temporary. 

There are also things such as silver wallets.  They provide storage and also you can see if it's been opened because of sticker.

I'm using a very old printer without internet connection etc. to print out my paper wallets. But thanks for the suggestions!

When you say book I got a brilliant idea.
First you buy a very long and boring book. (les miserables for instance )
Then buy some "highlighter pens" each different colors.

Then Create your own encryption method (ceaser's maybe, details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caesar_cipher)
Last step; start to highlight each encrypted characters of the private key
you can highlight priv key 1's chars green, 2nd's blue etc.

Don't worry no one will check your really boring novels

You are much more paranoid than me lol. I just made multiple laminated BIP38-encrypted paper wallets and keep in different places, hoping they won't all fail in the same period of time.

Make sure the ink and paper are waterproof, or at least seal them safely in some plastic container. Make sure they don't get burned in a fire or get destroyed by external influences. You might be best off with splitting the private key into multiple pieces (x of n pieces needed to restore the key) and store those pieces in different locations (houses). Make sure no one can get hold of >= x pieces of your key. If feasible, you should also encrypt the key with a passphrase for even more security.

The question just is: what is risk of "fading" of wood?

Depends on the type of wood plus the treatment the woods gets. Usually pieces are put in a furnace at a certain temp, i forget, to kill everything in the wood and dry it out,  this improves lifespan greatly. after that the piece is oiled to give it a protective layer. after this you'd be re-oiling once every 10 years if kept dry and clean i guess.

I think 'old oak' is more than sufficient for this task. Old oak is 'older than a 1000 years' which means 800 years is also acceptable apparently. Old oak is rare but 'quelle surprise': I can hook you up
