why would someone do that

Thought it was kinda obvious right from the ANN, before the first post was made.

I tried to warn people to check that wallet and nobody seemed to listen.  I was honestly SHOCKED to see you supporting it Mickghee!

Brand new account launches a coin with the same name but different ticker than another that was launched just a few days before with a good idea and getting attention.  BIG RED FLAG!
