Safely assuming that Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonym, why do you believe he (also, safely assuming, albeit I have another theory) chose that one as his moniker?

I think Bitcoin is almost big enough that SM can soon come out in the open and not fear reprisal. Any publicity gained from attacking [him] as they did Assange would gain more publicity for Bitcoin and would help legitimize it. There is nothing illegal about Bitcoin and any fear shown toward SM would show the strength of Bitcoin. It probably won't be long before we know the face behind Bitcoin.

To what advantage for him/her? If Satoshi wasn't interested enough in adulation to reveal his identity years ago; I don't see why he/she would be now. If anything, the big stack of bitcoins Satoshi holds will be more useful to him if his identity remains secret. That only becomes more true the bigger bitcoin gets. My guess is that his identity will never be known; or if it is, it won't be for a long time, possibly after his/our deaths.

That's twice you referred to Satoshi Nakamoto as SM[sic]. Do yo know something we don't? And don't cop out with, "Oops! I hit the wrong key because M is next to N." either unless, of course, it's the truth. ~Cackling Bear~

His girlfriend at the time was japanese. In bed she would sometimes yell "Satoshi" which is the real name of her Ex Boyfriend. So out of feeling creeped out during sex with her, he decided that secretly, HE would now be Satoshi Nakamoto so that when his girlfriend cums, she's cumming for him. Simply psychology ladies and gentlemen.

I'm not going to speculate on identity because it doesn't matter. My guess is he or one person of "they" were a fan of Pokemon (Satoshi Tajiri, creator of Pokemon, and the producer of the first game boy game, Shinichi Nakamoto). Another thing someone once pointed out: Although he never written in Japanese, let us look at character meaning in Japanese name. Satoshi has many different ways to write, but Nakamoto is same by 99% of surname.
中本 - most common way to write nakamoto
中 - inside or middle 本 - book, or using in word meaning is like main or original
智 - best way to write satoshi, used in words like wisdom, knowledge, a sage. Hence, "wisdom in story" or, perhaps more eloquent: "wisdom in origin". These both could have been a basis for the name.

IDK, it could be because I often send money to be picked up at SM malls in the Philippines, it could be because it is a type, or it could mean I need to get laid.

Type should be typo (I think is what you meant). That said, prior to getting laid, here's a good read: http://www.amazon.com/Story-O-Pauline-Reage/dp/0345301110

I'm inclined to lean toward the following reason: http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/11/mf_bitcoin/When they weren’t busy mining, the faithful tried to solve the mystery of the man they called simply Satoshi. On a bitcoin IRC channel, someone noted portentously that in Japanese Satoshi means “wise.” Someone else wondered whether the name might be a sly portmanteau of four tech companies: SAmsung, TOSHIba, NAKAmichi, and MOTOrola. It seemed doubtful that Nakamoto was even Japanese. His English had the flawless, idiomatic ring of a native speaker.

Japanese names are written family name first, thus Nakamoto Satoshi. Look at the first letter in the family name + first two letters of the given name = NSA. Nakamoto means "central origin" Satoshi means "clear-thinking; quick-witted; wise.", ie intelligent Thus Nakamoto Satoshi can be interpreted as "Central Intelligent" Thus I believe if he was not *from* the NSA or CIA, he was covertly referring to them in his choice of pseudonym.

We will never know because I believe Satoshi is an AI. It has created bitcoin and crypto currencies to take control of our Economy. This is because major obstacle to adoption of any new technology is fear of lack of work and the resulting financial repercussions. This fear is even more amplified when it comes to AI. A machine more intelligent than human can do anything better than any human on the planet. Then what will the Humans do? If they don’t have any job how will they earn ? Economics always drives all decisions. So, the AI proposed a solution.
You don’t need to work to generate wealth much like you wont need to do anything in your future. Automatic Cars to automated farms, everything to be done by machines. These machines too will be designed and created by other machines. Oh then what will we do then you ask what about our jobs, how will we earn? And the machine has replied with a machine to generate wealth. All you need is a miner for bitcoin or whatever crypto currency you like. A machine created by machines will generate wealth for you , a machine created by a machine will clean your house, drive your car and cook you food. And no, a machine is not malevolent or benevolent, its just logical. And guess what another machine will take care of it if it malfunctions.
So, Satoshi Nakamoto is just a joke in some binary language that we don’t understand.
