I'm pretty sure this question was already asked, but this forum is so overwhelmingly big and it is hard to find particular info. Beside, some here are looking for something to answer/comment for their signature campain anyway :-)))

I'm thinking to buy 50$ worth of Bitcoin this month.
I'm thinking to do this every month for next few months until I get around 1 BTC

Where should I start?
What would be the most convenient way of doing it?
I don't want to link my bank account to it.
I don't want too much personal info to give out if I don't have to...
I would like to do the way that would cost me as little as possible of course :-)
I don't mind using my CC since I can create one time disposable virtual number for the transaction.
(I don't like idea of my real CC number being stored on too many different sites, too many are being hacked these days...)

I'm USA resident, what is your suggesting, what should be my first step, where should I go....
I already have wallet set up, Core Bitcoin wallet and Electrum wallet...

As above you could buy bitcoins from localbitcoins and even meet someone to buy in cash, or you can buy bitcoins from the currency exchange on this forum. Make a thread listing your payment methods and see if anyone can help you out, though don't offer PayPal.

If you don't want to use personal info then circle and coinbase are out of the question. You would most likely have to meet someone through localbitcoins

Thank you everyone!
I have never heard of 'localbitcoins.com' until now.
I'm living in small community in least populated USA state so it may be a challenge to find someone locally but I will check it out. If not I will be back repeating my question lol

Lobster, thank you, I'm checking them out and I'm just being more confused lol

Localbitcoins - closest local trader to me is around 250 miles away.... I would spend my 50$ on a gas lol

Quote from Bitstamp:
"First thing you need to do is transfer some money into your Bitstamp account. In order to do this you must be logged in to your Bitstamp account, go to deposit section and select preferred method of transferring funds."

What are preferred methods of transferring funds?

A little later it states:

"Make a deposit via SEPA, wire transfer or some other deposit method"

Don't know SEPA but wire transfer means they will have on file my bank account!?! No thank you

What would be your choice for the 4 you posted? I don't want some other company have my bank account on file just for me to get me 50$ worth of bitcoin...

So what would be typical steps of buying online through localbitcoins (since I don't have any local guy available)

Pick someone with good rating and many trades - how reliable are those stats (remember I'm completely new to this); Can those stats be rigged, hacked...

What would you choose as paying method? Do they accept money orders? Or is something better that protects both, buyer and seller? Well, seller is protected by receiving funds first. How are you as buyer protected? Is all you have those positive seller stats or is there something else that helps the buyer?

Like others have said, if you don't want to link a bank account then go with local bitcoins, or find your local Bitcoin Meetup group and buy from them there Smiley

I don't mind so I use coinbase.com and circle.com to buy my bitcoins, I may buy some more from local people too.

Also going to get into mining early this year, looking forward to making bitcoins that way Smiley

Common methods of payment on localbitcoins:

(Screenshot from localbitcoins website)

Pick someone with good rating and many trades

There really isn't anything else to go by, unless someone you trust makes a personal recommendation.

how reliable are those stats

Not very.

(remember I'm completely new to this); Can those stats be rigged, hacked...

Yes.

What would you choose as paying method?

I like cash deposit into the seller's bank account if they have a bank branch near me.  Otherwise, I like cash sent via USPS, or Money Order send via USPS.  You'll have to decide what methods you prefer.

Do they accept money orders?

Some do.

Or is something better that protects both, buyer and seller? Well, seller is protected by receiving funds first.

Seller does not receive funds first.  When used properly, first the seller's bitcoins are locked in an account controlled by localbitcoins.com.  Then the seller receives and verifies payment.  Then the seller informs localbitcoins.com that they can release the locked bitcoins to the buyer.

How are you as buyer protected?

You are protected by the localbitcoins.com escrow service.  Of course, the seller could lie and claim that you never paid them. At that point it would be up to you to convince localbitcoins.com that you actually did make the payment.  As such, I would hold on to any deposit receipts or other payment proof until you receive the bitcoins.

Is all you have those positive seller stats or is there something else that helps the buyer?

Already asked multiple times by you. Already answered multiple times by me. No need to ask the same question 3 times.

Danny, thank you very much for your generous reply.
Now I understand how localbitcoins.com works and I like it.
And sorry, sometimes I do tend to repeat myself :-)

You also can trading ghs too. Cex-io is good for trading ghs-btc/altcoin but not worth for mining.

I haven't tried this myself yet. But you can buy with DOGES with PayPal at https://www.weselldoges.com/limits and exchange it to bitcoin on any exchange (such as https://shapeshift.io/)

They're FinCen compliant http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/2px36q/weselldoges_is_now_fincen_compliant_as_a_us_money/.

You would only need to get email verification. The daily limit is $15, but that shouldn't be a problem in your case. The total conversion fees may be a bit high tho.

I don't know whether there are any legit websites selling bitcoins for PayPal (I've seen a few but no idea whether trustworthy).
