Why is BTC dev non-existent?

(expecting a lack of answers on this one, hence the death of BTC)

Much is going on.  Take a look at github (and other places) if you want to be informed.  Better yet, code something yourself if you think nothing is being done.

This seems very off-topic for here, btw.  (And a lack of answers [in the Dev and Tech section]has nothing to do with the death of Bitcoin, more so the ridiculous, troll-like nature of the question.)

How about reading some of these: http://bitcoinstats.com/irc/bitcoin-dev/logs/2015/01 and open your eyes to the vista of projects, github issues, refactoring, testing, test plans, problem solving, packaging, maintenance, etc, ad nauseum, being tackled all the time.

if people actually got paid for their work there might be a lot more progress

banks and financial institutiions pay millions for their infrastructure  development teams ..........

develop something for a crypto- your going to have to fund it yourself and work for free  until it starts making money
and most people have bills to pay so they cant dedicate a few months to working full time on an experimental
bitcoin app that may not result in any returns ..............just saying

Two paid full time developers, three core developers on volunteer basis and a lot of extra people who like to help out Bitcoin. Should be more than enough. For more information (and a full list of people who have done something for Bitcoin) checkout this link: Bitcoin development.

imo, the devs should focus solely on the tech.  supporters like you should do your part in helping gain adoption, whether setting up a business, building something on top of the protocol or just spreading the word.

if you're nothing but an investor/trader, then you'll have to be patient.

Bitcoin devs are coding, reviewing and testing everyday. It your own ignorance you did not actively seek information about their work and post trash like this.

I'm surprised Bitcoin has as many devs as it does. How many client downloads are we up to now, 5-10 million? VLC media player has well over a billion downloads. For just a movie player that's pretty impressive because there are dozens of different movie players. Bitcoin is still just a newborn infant.

I'm not. In addition to the two developers who are paid by the Bitcoin Foundation and the many volunteers, aren't there others who are paid by BitPay and other companies that have an interest in seeing Bitcoin succeed?

How many client downloads are we up to now, 5-10 million? VLC media player has well over a billion downloads. For just a movie player that's pretty impressive because there are dozens of different movie players. Bitcoin is still just a newborn infant.

They don't compare, at this point Bitcoin is still in its infancy. While it doesn't currently have mass adoption like VLC media player, it does attract people who are far more able and willing to contribute code (to Bitcoin Core or to other related projects) than your average person who simply wants to watch a movie would be.

I wouldn't exactly call VLC "just" a movie player either. It may be the best media player I've ever used and it's definitely the best cross-platform media player I've ever used, working almost identically on Windows, Mac and Linux. It's one of the first things I install on any computer I own even if I don't plan to use that computer primarily for movies or music.
