This has been around for a while (at least in the US). I think many years back when I was a student, they offered free PRIME for one full year, and normal membership was $80. Now membership is only $40, but the student prime duration was also cut in half.

I don't know if this is common knowledge, but I just found out that if you have a student e-mail you are eligible for 6 months of free Prime (which is ****ing awesome, I might add).  Pretty sure it will work for any University but cannot confirm...
Plugging my ref link, but feel free not to use it and sign-up on your own.

They finally got around to getting it to work in canada nice
Well I might make an off purchase at .ca so may as well sign up enjoy 5 bucks
(Problem with it usually is that the American store is cheaper but free shipping might just off-set it lol)

I don't think they've ever offered one year for free in Canada as Prime is actually pretty new to Canada IIRC.

I recall not seeing prime last year so if anything its fresh
Looking it up it sucks compared to the American version just like Netflix and people wonder why they use proxies seems to have been around a while but buying US prime seems to be the more attractive option by far, only thing is that its free for students here and not a US student or control a US Edu address lol.

You can't get Prime shipping if you have American Amazon Prime though... I'm a bit confused on your point freed.

Sorry about that meant you can use Prime + Shipping Address in the US that then ships to you in Canada and save money it works for some people but that was a bit of an aside, was talking about the differences between US and Canadian versions of things just grumbling
(Amazon Instant Streaming and Kindle Owner’s Lending Library) are NOT included in the Amazon Prime Package being offered at Amazon.ca.

Ah, gotcha.
Makes sense.
Amazon Prime is seriously fantastic and I don't understand how they make money on some of their sales.

Wholesale of many products are a LOT cheaper than you'd expect.
