I saw these "warning: blah blah blah let the buyers beware" quite a few times yesterday, but only have seen like two of them today. wouldn't it be better if it's always there? especially since there's quite a few ponzi schemes popping out.
edit: apparently it's not time-based and is only shown in certain sections. in that case then showing it in the marketplace should be good enough

I agree! I have seen that some times better to make them permanent especially these days.

Might be best to put some sort of red warning on most of the Marketplace sections, whether it's to look out for ponzis, always use escrow or don't request or give un-collateral-ed loans, but people should have common sense. No amount of warnings will ever stop some people from losing their money.

It's only shown in certain sections, not based on time. I forget which sections offhand, easy to check though.

It's on long term offer section. Warning: Moderators do not remove likely scams. You must use your own brain: caveat emptor. Watch out for Ponzi schemes. Do not invest more than you can afford to lose.

then I agree with this, since it is shown in certain sections. unless the moderators wants to move those kind of thread to some specific sections, it's better to show it in most of the marketplace sub-boards

I believe it is in the securities and long term offers subsection under lending where the scams are most likely to be (or at least where the scams that can last the longest and take the most money are). It might be one of the mining sections too but I'm not 100% on this. I agree there should be some kind of warning about the scam moderation policy in the other marketplace (and beginners section). (We don't have newbie jail but if newbies are following the rules they should be asking newbie like questions (including trade related questions) in the newbie section and business could transact there)

It should probably be on the Services and Service Announcements (and Discussion?) sections as well, as many of the cloud mining ponzis have their main threads there.

Can't we just report any ponzi threads and have them thrown into the can? How do they help this community? Forget the warnings

if we did this then if the forum were to incorrectly not trash a ponzi it would essentially be endorsing them and could potentially be liable when it collapses

The removal of them could be "unoffical' and the red caution could still be posted at the top to cover liability. It would free up a lot of spam in the gambling section and save a few users from losing their money to ponzi operators at the same time.

You either remove it as a site moderator or you do not remove it at all. The red warning says that the forum does not moderate scams. Wouldn't removing ponzi's be moderating scams?

I see what you're saying. Slippery slope and all. Solution: Create a subforum under gambling next to games and rounds that is labeled HYIP. Anything related to high-yield investment programs or ponzis can be moved there with a header saying "INVEST AT YOUR OWN RISK".

the Gambling section's description tells us pretty much that.
