Bitcoin is dangerous and people should steer away from using it. This is a bearish opinion held by many traditional investors, but not one you would expect from the man responsible for turning the virtual currency into a commodity worth billions.

Yet, that is the view of Gavin Andresen, chief scientist at the Bitcoin Foundation, the closest thing to a central bank for the nascent cryptocurrency. He is considered the leading custodian of the bitcoin code, the rules and software used to run the cryptocurrency. But far from being a cheerleader, Mr Andresen, is warning ordinary people to avoid bitcoin — for now.

Mr Andresen’s proposed solution is to increase the size of bitcoin blocks, the files that hold the data that underpins the currency. Their size limits the speed at which the bitcoin network can process transactions. Larger blocks can contain more transactions and, therefore, increase the capacity of the network.

Не блокчейн увеличивать, он и так растет и будет расти, а максимальный размер блока. И вопрос тут не в том будет ли увеличен этот размер, а в том, когда и на сколько он будет увеличен.

Количество монет никоим образом не связано с размером блока. Больше блок - больше в него влезет транзакций, больше транзакций в секунду может проводить сеть.

У нас будет всего 21 трлн микробиткоинов, каждый из которых еще делится на 100 частей. Всем хватит. Так что масштабируемость биткоина никак не связана с количеством монет.

БД в биткойне сейчас не децентрализована, а растиражирована 100%ными копиями. Это не дело. Нужно разработать алгоритм, распределяющий части БД между пользователями, не майнерами, у пулов проблем нет со свободным местом и временем. Пусть например БД делится на 100 равных по объему частей, и уже эти части в равных пропорциях тиражируются. Таким образом увеличится степень децентрализации в целом, т.к. будет больше людей использовать полновесный клиент, а не легкие клиенты.
