Hello everyone! I am 17 years old and i want to invest around 100-200 dollars in BitCoins. I am planning to use my bank account to transfer money to Mt. Gox. Mt.Gox gave me their Account Name, Account Number, SWIFT number , Bank Name, Branch Name, Bank address and message details. Can i log in online to my bank account and do this transfer or do i have to go to my branch and speak with the teller to do this. Sorry, i am new. This is my first investment.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

It depends on your bank, account type, options, etc.

Some places allow you to do a wire online some reuqire it in person.

You should be aware that for $100 a wire is likely the worst possible way to get Bitcoins.

Your bank is going to charge $20 to $50 for the wire (and "free" personal checking tends to be the worse) and then IIRC MtGox charges a fee (but maybe that is just outgoing wires).

Hmm... Then what would be the best way for me to convert 100 dollars into bitcoins?

Some people may be willing to accept Western Union as payment, check quickbitcoins for a web mearchant, or you can try #bitcoin-otc or even the currency exchange subforum.

Ah, from Canada cash deposit is just as easy.

CA VirtEx offers cash deposit methods through Royal Bank and Bank of Montreal.  Additionally they offer the ability to fund an account using online bill pay from your bank

Another exchange, Canadian Bitcoins, accepts cash in the mail (send via Xpress Post) or if you use TD through Personal Pay:

The full directory of options is here:

Also, note the terms of service from Mt. Gox:

Quote
By opening an account to use the Platform ("Account") Members represent and warrant:
they are at least 18 years of age and have the full capacity to accept these Terms and enter into a transaction resulting on the Platform

[Update: I see CA VirtEx's terms of service include the restriction:

"Your use of the VirtEx site shall serve to confirm that you are both 18 years of age or older and a Canadian citizen.".

As long as you deposit using the cash at a bank method, I don't believe there is any need to go through the account verification step. ]

Hello,

A lot of our Canadian customers send us wire transfers.  You may do it online if your bank allows wire transfers online or you may speak to the teller and let them know that you wish to send a wire transfer to us.  Be sure to include the Mt.Gox message of M######## which you will see on the Add Funds page after logging in so that the transfer reaches us.  Please be advised that our bank charges 1,000 JPY as a receiving fee. If you have any further questions, please contact the Mt.Gox Support at Zendesk by submitting a ticket there. (https://support.mtgox.com/)
