It's going to hit 100F here is SoCal soon and we don't run the AC. It's getting to about 88F in my "mining" room so it's starting to get unbearable. So far all I have done is lower the clockspeed on my main 7970 during the heat of the day. There are going to be days when I need to shut down during the middle of the day and that is going to suck. I have a window fan running 24/7 that is reverseable , but it isn't very effective unless it is cooler than 80F outside. If ASIC's ever come out they are going to look real attractive one heat-wave afterwards.

People in the northern hemisphere, presumably. I, on the other hand, am freezing my tail off down here in Australia.

As my mining rig was running outside, I had to turn it off few months ago. I was hoping to get back to GPU mining one last time in October or November, but BFL destroyed my plans. I will switch to ASIC instead.

I'm in Australia too, but I moved my rigs inside for winter- toasty warm Rigs go outside in summer in regular 100C+ days, cgminer FTW The guy that authors cgminer lives in Australia too - he optimised it before our summer, time for the N hemisphere to catch up again

It's not so much that the miners can't handle the heat as much as us humans can't handle the extra heat they make indoors.

amen to that. Not having a secure location to place mine outdoors and failing to install enough exhaust flow to remove the hot air, I just slap got rid of mine. Can't stand being hot. I welcome our ASIC overlords! would really like to see some competition there.... edit; location = Florida

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system. - GA

I assume your elect. free? no doubt... my summer elec bill is near $500 without mining.... don't even ask what mining plus central AC + a window unit going to keep cool bring it to. ;p

I've def had to turn it off a few days here and there
Generally a few hours later a rain storm will come through, cool everything down and I'll open the doors and windows and after an hour or so turn the miner back on
