How it works...

• You send a friend your referral link, which you can find on the referral page.
• Your friend clicks your referral link and signs up for a buttercoin account.
• Your friend buys Bitcoin by adding USD to their Buttercoin account via bank transfer.
• You and your friend each receive $20 in your accounts.

You have to deposit a minimum of $10 + $0.43 bank fee (takes 2 to 3 days), then buy some bitcoins with that (I don't think there is a minimum on this, but I could be wrong). After that, both the referrer and referee get $20.

It's not impossible. These funds are likely from their advertising budget. It is just an incentive to get more people to try their product out versus continue using their competitors, and the people who end up liking it will come back.

The menu item appears if you click the link from your e-mail regarding the referral program, but I can't find a way to access it directly from the site anymore.
