It's obvious that some people have inside information as to when BTC is rising and dropping and they make a huge profit off of it at other people's expense, or it's people manipulating the prices. I don't see any valid reason why BTC would rise and drop $100's within days. Maybe the BTC demand is so low there's people who buy a lot of BTC, hold them until they rise, and then drop them all at once and make a profit. Then repeat and do it again.
