I've always kept a eye on the development sub-forum and been following it for a year or so but what is the best way to learn more about technical side?

https://github.com/aantonop/bitcoinbook

It's pretty thorough and technical.  Click on the "chXX.asciidoc" links to read each individual chapter.

I think the best way to learn would be trying to build something and asking at beginners & help whenever u r stuck...

Write code yes, but dont ask in beginners and help. While there are some good answers there is also plenty spam and crap. Ask in tech support (if its about QT/Core) or in dev & tech discussions (if its about the protocol).

Other than that let me give you some links:

https://bitcoin.org/en/developer-documentation
https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf - read it again from to time

Im not really here, its just your imagination.
