Internet speed should'nt be a problem, but latency may increase your miner's accepted shares due to new blocks or new work requested.

Internet speed will only affect you syncing blockchains and latest transactions for your wallet, miners should not be a problem

Stable connection is more important and not the bandwidth. So choosing a server/ mining pool closest to you is the best.

I think your big issue is what else will you be doing on that internet connection at the same time?

If the 512Kbps is 100% always available, then no issue.  But if you are going to be checking email, surfing, etc. -- then you it will disrupt your mining.  There's no wiggle room there.

no unless you are instamining, where you need it to catch the first round of blocks, but it's not important now, because of anti-instamine blocks
