Monero.

Edit: Disclosure I have a position in Monero

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

My picks are Urocoin, Mazacoin, Shadowcash, Maidsafe, Ripple, Stellar.

Naturally BTC is the one to hold but unless you are a whale I think you've missed your chance to make obscene profits off any rise.

CANN buddy !

Don't forget the US law about weed, very very important factor for CANN success. ===> Banks are refusing cash from weed sells because it's not completly legal ======> Dispensers   N E E D   Cannabiscoins.
Because weed is not completly legal at a federal range, feds can shut down any "growfarm" they don't like for some random personnal reasons, this is very sad. =====> This is why D9 isn't giving anyone pictures about the weed growing, like everyone in this business in US.

Cann seems actually dead, but is in fact not at all. The Herbal Wellness Center is still using it in real world and there are pleeeeeeeeeeeeenty of events coming with a great future. Do like you want but i'm definetly in it Wink

I hold several coins. The only one that went up in value is Ripple (Xrp). Just sayin.

Bitcoin would be my only coin I would hold for more than 3.6 seconds. Litecoin would probably be one of my picks but nothing else.

In your opinion, what is the best coin to seriously invest in long term?

(example: DOGE, DRK, XRP, Ethereum, BC, etc...)

None. Buy and hold long term is a losing strategy in crypto.

UNO has worked out as a 1+ year hold.  The question is - will it continue to do so for +years to come?

The coins in my sig  Cheesy

Honestly though, a year is a looooooooong time in alts. You really can't look away for a year on any coin, random destructive shit can and will happen at the blink of an eye.

Just look for coins with marketcaps which are ridiculously lower than they should be for what they offer or will offer. For example, Geocoin has a marketcap right now around $20,000. You can buy 1% of the current supply for ~$200. This coin has already integrated GIS- you can put money in any location on earth and people can go and get it (check out geocoin.cash)- the dev is great, more tech is on the way, and there's an entirely new user base which this coin has the potential to tap into and bring into crypto (the geocaching community).  When you consider all the useless crap with market caps of $200,000 or even more, it's pretty safe to to say this coin deserves and will likely achieve a significantly higher market cap than it currently has.

NXT and Slimcoin.

NXT, because it's still in its development stage and has the potential to get a high adoption when a really stable wallet is deployed.
Slimcoin, because it's seriously undervalued and the first (and only) coin with the innovative Proof-of-burn algorithm. Proof-of-burn is a seriously interesting concept with many advantages, proposed by a Bitcoin veteran (see http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_burn) , but only Slimcoin uses it until now.

What do you think about bitcoin Smiley? As I heard it's quite cheap now but has some good growth potential, credible devs and some serious investors as well Cheesy.

NXT can be a good alternative too.

Only a few altcoins have decent tech though.  Most seem to offer nothing.
