It's exactly the same as bitcoin.

Bitcoin:
Windows: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin\wallet.dat
Linux: /home/username/.bitcoin/wallet.dat

Bitcoin:
Windows: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Litecoin\wallet.dat
Linux: /home/username/.litecoin/wallet.dat

what about mac?

Sorry first of all for bumping this post, but since this post scores high on Google and a user needs help, I find in helpful to update this thread with information on how to backup the Litecoin wallet on Mac

This blogpost describes the process for Mac OS X users as well: "How To Secure and Backup Your Litecoin Wallet"
