Code:
Quickseller
01/23/2015
I have regained control of my account and changed my password.

Verified, however it looks like the hacker was able to scam Bitcoin_BOy$ for .048 BTC. You would need to repay him to his satisfaction (especially considering your account was "hacked" under very suspicious conditions).

I will not as I was not the one who scammed. My apologies to anyone I affected, however if it was not me that scammed, I do not feel responsible to repay. Especially if it's only like $10.
I would not be able to remove my negative trust as a result. Anyone could simply claim "hack" anytime they take out a loan. Like I said, the timing of you being able to recover the account is very suspicious, plus the fact that you claim the hacker did not change the password, however according to the security log, you reset your password via email (how would you know the password was not changed, yet were not able to log in with your password?).
I will later tonight as I am on my iPhone right now.

Just curious, how did you regain control of your account from an iPhone?
Don't you have to sign a message for that?

Or didn't the hacker change the password?

Hacker didn't change the password.

I was able to log in with the same password as the hacker never changed it. I only noticed something weird was going on after my gmail blew up with 20 notifications about PMs for loans.
That still does not explain the fact that you reset our password via email.
What do you mean? I see someone had my password so I reset it so I can change it.
You don't need to reset your password to change it. You change it on profile -> Account Related Settings.
I find it hard to believe that someone would be able to determine your actual password and would not change your password/email.
I don't know why either as I am not the one who hacked my account.

Glad you posted this thread. Your (or the hacker) account send me a message asking for a loan. He asked for 0.005 and will return 0.01. I thought it was too good to be true.

Especially if it's only like $10.

If it's "only like $10" why not just make it right and get the trust ratings off your account?

Perhaps if the scam had been for $10k I'd see why you would not just cover the trouble. Just think of it as a $10 lesson to be more careful in the land of bitcoin, maybe next time instead of your forum account it will be your entire wallet of bitcoins that vanish.

You are right. I hope he won't blame you if his wallet is hacked! Roll Eyes

@OP: What you did is very suspicious. You are/were a foundation member, so I think you can easily pay the $10 easily. Smiley

I don't think the account is really hacked or atleast the user is fair.

Any chance we can get 2FA on bitcointalk?

New forum software will be available soon. 2FA will be there. Check Meta board. Smiley

This should be obvious. He did not post in over 3 months then made a series of loan requests.

If I had to guess I would say that he was trying to scam for as much as possible then claim "hack" then would try to sell his clean account.

You're right! It's phishing.

If I had to guess I would say that he was trying to scam for as much as possible then claim "hack" then would try to sell his clean account.

I bet, now his account is cleaner than ever! Cheesy He should have sold it before asking loan or after repaying. Smiley)

I hope you are unordinary man, i.e., wont grow and old, don't need any other superpowers. Wink

Its not much amount if he want to save his acount he can.

I don't think so. He hasn't logged in for over 3 months, so I think he quit using Bitcointalk. So he may not want to do anything about his reputation or he don't have enough BTC to cover it.

But if a scammer hacked his account why he didnt loaned a higher amount with this trusted account?

He isn't *that* trusted to get a higher loan and also to avoid doubts, hacker(or OP) may have asked amount lesser than what he can get.

I don't think it was hacked because:
  • A hacker might have forgotten to change email but will definitely change password.
  • A hacker could have got much higher loan with his account as collateral.
  • A hacker could have sold it.

But these things might not happen and may completely be wrong.
