You do know that video, even compressed was about 2 GB right? It took nearly 2 days to upload and process.
Sorry for only replying to this part of your post, but as someone who does video editing I can't resist giving my two cents on this.
To be brief: Any and I mean
ANY video can be reduced to a few hundred megabytes with proper compression.
There's no way uploading a 1 hour and 20 minutes video could take 2 days. And WC is no exception to that, he has no excuse. He could have simply googled "video compression" and found a technique in 2 minutes instead of waiting 2 days to "upload".
Just my 2 cents.
Can you download his video and re-upload it in a few hundred megabytes while still maintaining sufficient picture quality?
It would help prove your point and help those of us with slower internet.
Since WC had to drop everything and produce the video to prove himself as an expert, I expect you do drop everything you are doing right now and produce a "few hundred megabyte" version of WC's video for us all to see. Since you are a video editor it should be no problem or maybe you are misrepresenting yourself and deserve a negative reputation also?

Stel 1: Downloading the videoFirst things first, I'm using some
freeware to download the video as mp4 from youtube. (Downloading starts as soon as I post this.)
Background: In layman's terms, .mp4 on its own is a good file format if you want to save space. Many professional cameras and software don't record directly in mp4, but the video can easily be converted into .mp4. A conversation that will allow us to compress the video and reduce it's size even further using different tools as we go on.
Step 2: New Codec and final resultIt wasn't that hard was it? Nearly lossless conversion (and some color correction too) but it now takes nearly half the space than the original. Imagine how much space rendering would have saved if we were rendering an .avi file that has minimal to no compression.

Only tool used for this is
Handbreak and it's H.264 codec. Handbrake is open source too!
Hope ~500Mb/h of video is a decent rate for you. Feel free to use the information above as you like (Just remember that I posted this mainly for fun purposes).
