I've seen this coin slip down the coin market cap ratings from being in the top 10 a few months ago to 60th place today. This makes sense since the distribution of this coin is supposed to act as a "snapshot" for distributing new BitShares DACs such as BitShares X, Music, DNS, etc. Now that most of these DACs have been launched and distributed, the value of BitShares PTS has dropped. But are they still worth anything? Will there be more snapshots in the future? Will there be any new developments planned for this coin?

Snapshots will be from BTS --> Newcoin. Once the steam leave this coin like PTS did.
If you know the history of Protoshares you will know what will happen with BTS.

Correction: snapshots will be from whichever demographics the developers of the new coin that are sharedropping wish it to be. It could be PTS, it could be BTS, it's at the discretion of the development team for the project.

At the moment I don't think there is anyone planning to sharedrop on PTS. You could check the PTS forums though:

I still have just about every PTS I've ever owned.
They have served me well claiming shares in BTS, Music, PLAY, and (DNS/VOTE) among others.
They are worth more to me as a wild card lottery ticket than they are for whatever I could get for them today.
I figure, what could be a better share drop target than a die-hard HODLer who won't even dump when there's nothing yet announced?

Stan, can you explain the process one needs to follow to claim shares in BTS, Music, PLAY, and (DNS/VOTE) etc with your PTS?? I've tried to find out how but can't find a simple answer. Is the time for claiming Music & DNS/VOTE happened yet?
thanks

At the highest level, all you have to do is get the wallet for the DAC of interest (BTS, Music, Play, etc.) and import the private keys from the PTS or BTC wallets where your PTS reside or your PTS/BTC were donated to AGS from.

The BTS wallet key import tab looks like this:

You can learn more by downloading Max Wright's BitShares 101 ebook.

DNS and VOTE were merged with BTSX to form BTS.  Check out Music and PLAY for their specific software releases.

You can find out about the other independent DACs at their own websites

Shares are issued by placing them in accounts in the new blockchain genesis block that accessible using the keys from the wallet(s) containing PTS or from which you donated PTS or BTC to AGS.

Just import the keys from the wallet you used to donate to AGS into your new BTS or PLAY or MUSIC or... wallet and they will show up.

It's easy and feels a bit like a treasure hunt as you import each wallet.
