Quote
Don’t take for granted the support for whistleblower Edward Snowden among Millennials. NSA spying receives more support from people under 30 years old than any other age group according to a new Pew Research poll. People aged 18-29 approved of the NSA at a rate of 61 percent compared to just 40 percent from the 65 and older crowd. From the article at Pew Research Center:

Favorability ratings for the National Security Agency (NSA) have changed little since the fall of 2013, shortly after former NSA analyst Edward Snowden’s revelations of the agency’s data-mining activities. About half (51%) view the NSA favorably, compared with 37% who have an unfavorable view.

Young people are more likely than older Americans to view the intelligence agency positively. About six-in-ten (61%) of those under 30 view the NSA favorably, compared with 40% of those 65 and older.

Well I was going to call this sample bull
But it seems to be an education issue

Adults with a post-graduate degree have mixed views of the NSA (45% favorable vs. 43% unfavorable). Among those with less education, favorable opinions of the NSA outnumber unfavorable views

http://www.people-press.org/2015/01/22/most-view-the-cdc-favorably-vas-image-slips/#views-of-the-nsa-little-changed-from-2013

That or people get worried when they get a phone call saying Hi this is X and X speaking do you support the NSA
Yes or No

I'm still going to call bull on this, If it were the case as this article claims, why are so many young people adopting cryptocurrencies compared to the old and why are so many of them using pretty unconventional tactics to avoid the very surveillance this poll claims they support. Never ever trust political polling data and 'surveys' that doesn't show their method of sampling and how many people took part clearly, if you asked this questions among hardcore democrats/republicans you would have very different results compared to your average person out there.

Well think about it for a sec... young people have been born into social medias, they post their faces, names, addresses, phone numbers all over the internet not giving a fuck, the even post semi naked pics as instagram avatars... i dont think they care much about they being spyed on when they enjoy so much exposing themselves, they'll think "well, if it saves us from a crazy guy wanting to explode himself hoping to fuck 72 virgins in the afterlife".

above poster has an excellent point.
Yet chew on this. Propaganda...
I can see it as a paid piece to give the impression that the people don't mind so let us keep doing it.
Jedi mind trick stuff. But again young people really don't give a shit and can't keep their nose out of their phones or facebook.

Well trolling the poll seems like a viable option
However it seemed to be consistent over a period of months that said if it's to misdirect people they know how to go about it by casting a suspicion of doubt.

Again, the problem with this kind of polling data is if they only release the percentages you can't know just how many 'Young People' have taken part in this poll, it's the same tactic used in other political polling where they say a percentage of 'Americans' believe and then when you look closer it reveals there has only been a 3000 poll sample which obviously is nowhere near an accurate representation of an entire country.

Data like this is horribly unreliable and should never be trusted, if you've got a bigger polling sample than say 5000 then there might be a point to it, but otherwise it's just political groups trying to trick people into thinking the world is against people who disagree.

About the Survey

The analysis in this report is based on telephone interviews conducted January 7-11, 2015 among a national sample of 1,504 adults, 18 years of age or older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia (528 respondents were interviewed on a landline telephone, and 976 were interviewed on a cell phone, including 563 who had no landline telephone). The survey was conducted by interviewers at Princeton Data Source under the direction of Princeton Survey Research Associates International. A combination of landline and cell phone random digit dial samples were used; both samples were provided by Survey Sampling International. Interviews were conducted in English and Spanish. Respondents in the landline sample were selected by randomly asking for the youngest adult male or female who is now at home. Interviews in the cell sample were conducted with the person who answered the phone, if that person was an adult 18 years of age or older. For detailed information about our survey methodology, see http://people-press.org/methodology/

The following table shows the unweighted sample sizes and the error attributable to sampling that would be expected at the 95% level of confidence for different groups in the survey:

Sample sizes and sampling errors for other subgroups are available upon request.

In addition to sampling error, one should bear in mind that question wording and practical difficulties in conducting surveys can introduce error or bias into the findings of opinion polls.

Oh wow, that's worse than I thought, only 1,504? Even fox news tends to manage more than that, looks like they struggled to find people even willing to take part, also half of them were in one district as well so that's not even spread out enough to get accurate data.

Look! I did maths involving percentages!  Grin but seriously, this is why you simply shouldn't trust the majority of political polling.

Are you serious that they have deducted the percentage what young generation thinks out of 1500 asked? Dafuq? Also did they ask 10 year old kids or what? This is serious topic and why would people like to get monitored? There have beencfew raids that had bo meaning already and they will only continue.

This happens constantly in political polling, it his highly unreliable and I would easily argue it's just propaganda designed to use fake mathematics. It's like when companies make skin care products etc. and get scientists to say things for them so they can claim it's backed by real science.

Yeah, the real question would be how many hung up on the paid-by-NSA call center when the word "NSA" was blurted out.  That'd tell you something.
