It may be impossible but a Billionaire can always step on and buy an island on the middle of the Ocean but well ... that's probably not going to happen either . some people have better things to do then buying Islands for a Digital currency

Pretty sure that a lot of people are supporting the idea , I would give tons of BTC for that ... but I simply don't have enough BTC's for that , early adopters does , I don't I only have bitcoin from sig compaigns,selling steam gifts and that's it .

It is ok to smoke marijuana in many places, one does not have to travel to an island.

If you have a way to produce considerable amounts of free electricity in an island in the middle of the ocean, you can first open an electric company somewhere where electricity isn't cheap, make a ton of money and then you can buy the island...

The only way it would be possible is , if a country gives up their currency and makes bitcoin its primary currency .
Maybe, a newly formed country can do that .

They could buy one, but you have to contend with the issue of sovereignty over the island and that would be very difficult to achieve. 

Don't get me wrong, I hope someone does it, it just isn't as easy as "buying an island" (unfortunately).

Citizenship shouldn't cost anything, but maybe signing a message with your private key to prove you own an address

when doing a "micronation/state/country it would take the bitcoin to the moon or stars.

- citizenship costs because making infrastructure isn`t free and the money for this would come by paid citizenship in the beginning.

- if you want to live in Monaco you have to pay a lot of money and have yearly income in millions 

- buying an island is easy if you have money.

- recognized micronation with all sovereignty isn`t easy but when enough citizens and with money it`s possible 

- the island would be at least 80 hectare 0.88km2 what is the double size of the Vatican and the size of the Valletta capital of the Malta.

1000hectare/10km2 island for 900 000 dollars, so about 3000btc needed to start this project.

today online +2600 members this would mean about 1btc/member and you would get a piece of beautiful island and possibility to make the real "revolution"

Micronations and Bitcoin, how often this comes up is ridiculous. The only way this will happen is some Billionaire buys one and starts it up as a trial, and imagine what a pain it would be if there was no infrastructure already built.

I think it would be more than fun to build a place like that.
and if make a place like this as a trial and succeed? what would happen?
