I am a noob, and I am in need of some assistance from a member named Definit. Can somebody who knows him or has the ability to message other members contact him and tell him I need his assist with an escrow service. Someone gave me his name as an escrow service. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

You can try asking reputable people like hashking (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=50347), Patrickharnett (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=26841) to see if they'll be the escrow. They run Bitcoin lending services, and have offered their services as escrow holders too.

Thank you for the heads up on the others who provide this type of service but the guy that I am dealing with requested someone specific that he trusts. It is also to know that there are others out there providing this type of service.

Big UPS to BCB, need to get some coins and we worked a deal to get me some coins in an INSTANT! Thank you for helping a noob get a foot in the door. Might need you again soon.

And who might that have been? The entire point of an escrow is that BOTH the buyer AND the seller trust it. If only the seller trusts it, how does the buyer know whether or not the escrow is just another sockpuppet of the seller?
The idea is that you are using a NEUTRAL third party to hold something during the transaction, and to arbitrate any disputes that may arise.

I have asked the seller to provide a picture to prove possession of product. Not just stock photo. Lemme get back to you on the BIP. Need to read up on that. But thanks for all the heads up guys. Nice to see community helping other newer members.
