You can Solo mine with any amount of GHs. You could do it with even 1 GHs but you will probably never hit a block. At this current network Diff, you will need around 2 PHs to hit around 1 block / day.

There are pools out here that have close to and a little more than 9 PHs and still go days without blocks. I would say that is it possible to get lucky but unreasonable.

I would not try solo mining unless you are >1Ph,  the law of averages just work better for you in a pool till you go really big.

1-2 PHs. The electricity could power a city and the heat will probably cause a tsunami. Bad news.

OK, what about 1 block per week <--- maybe too hopeful 

if I had 50 Ths (now have 30+, so not far to go) can I hope for a block per month?

I have found 2 blocks in a month with under 10 TH/s. So it really depends on how lucky you are feeling.

41 day with normal luck and 50th.

I guess you can try it 1 week and see!
