If someone posted image that's hosted on imageshack, it will be shown only if the requirement is met :
- It's not a direct link image (thumbnail will be shown without problem)
- If it's a direct link image, the visitor must use US / UK IP or the owner of the website already register the domain

Otherwise, visitors will get the frog image like this :

Since there're more than 8050 images
http://www.google.com/search?q=site:bitcointalk.org+imageshack

hosted on imageshack by bitcointak's user, it would be a wise move for the Administrator of this website to register bitcointalk.org domain here :
http://stream.imageshack.us/content.php?page=register_domain

Example of problem (if you're inside US / UK, use proxy / VPN from other country beside US and UK, you'll get the frog images) :
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=88481.0

More article about this can be found by googling easily :

Will that even work? Bitcointalk uses https:// for everything, and referrers are never passed when in secure mode like that. Or does imageshack try to scrape the thread and then authorize it? That would be unlikely and doubtful.

Why not use imgur instead?

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

They are using imageshack. I see the frog image all over the forums as my IP isn't from the US/UK range.  Cry

Is it fixed now? Imageshack links are now automatically translated so they take you through a proxy.

Looks working fine now, checked on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=66337.0 and all images load for me.

Press Shift + Refresh if you're still viewing the frog image to force clear the browser's cache.

Thanks Theymos.

It'd be cool if someone would set up a proxy that added a "Stop using Imageshack" watermark to the image.

Not sure why you would bother, an imgur account is free for most users, and you can just make another one if you run out of space. Usually fast and nice organizational tools and stuff.

Also, now none of the images load for me, and if I visit the link manually I get an error that says you aren't allowed to hotlink proxified images.

Ditto. I was reading this thread yesterday wondering what the hell everyone was so happy about considering no imageshack images load.

Well, imgur is nice n all, I like https as imgur does not offer this. Plus, using https images does not break the bitcointalk.org's security.

All that does is make the little "lock" go away, it doesn't make it in any way insecure.

The problem is existing posted images and future user content, since you can't really tell everyone never to use imageshack again. Unless you run an imageshack proxy?
