A friendly reminder.

Friendly?  Have you read it, it spews hate and scorn all over the place.

I think he was being sarcastic when he said friendly.

I’m worried about some of you. Some of you who may be operating under the assumption that Bitcoin is anonymous. It is not. - See more at: http://bitcoinfaucetrelay.com/a-friendly-reminder-bitcoin-is-not-anonymous/#sthash.ZvEZHZ5D.dpuf

Bitcoin is anonymous, only if u know how to make it anonymous.
I agree, Bitcoin could be almost untraceable if you are careful.

In Bitcoin all transaction are only random numbers, so It's difficult to find someone if these random numbers come from random servers. Tongue

I dont support any crime as well but im just curious: how are you supossed to make it anonymous? even if you use a bitcoin mixer and whatnot, its useless since say you want to buy weed in SK: you have to tell the name and address to the seller, and this seller could very well be the feds. So whats the point?

A friendly reminder that if you connect to it through Tor, you're anonymous.

Not if you send the coins straight to your wallet and don't even bother mixing them and then get caught with said wallets and logged in as a criminal mastermind, which is what he did  Grin. You can have certain anonymity though if you're smart about it.

Bitcoin is like credit card transactions that have been recorded and can be reviewed by other people.

Bitcoin is not completely anonymous by itself, no. But if you take little effort, it's quite easy to make sure your bitcoins ARE 100% anonymous.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Anyone who actually knows about Bitcoin already knows Bitcoin isn't fully anonymous, anyone who doesn't is either going to ignore this fact or is too stupid to realise anyway.

this only concerns shady people who are doing illegal stuff with bitcoin not the general users, and they know how to become anonymous! so no need for the article there either Cheesy

A friendly reminder that if you connect to it through Tor, you're anonymous.

Not necessarily. It depends how safe and smart you have been. If you use tor but have previously publicly posted an address that can be connected to you it can easily be found. You could also use two or more addresses to send funds which are then spend linked and could be used to track you.

Again not necessarily. They may just not want their identity associated with something they are purchasing. Also, just because something the government say is illegal doesn't mean it is right or wrong to purchase it or take part in the activity.
