From another thread:

Speaking of trolls, here's Rickards in attack mode: www.darientimes.com/39695/rickards-fighting-the-islamic-state-with-special-operations/

Note that he never says there *is* terrorist financing via bitcoin, he just makes it sound like a really scary idea. Also fails to mention that ISIS has said they're using gold, and further, that it seems like a really bad idea to commit big crimes using a public ledger. If it wasn't obvious already, SR trial makes that clear.

And of course, he has a number of factual errors, but tries to come across as reasoned by giving btc props here and there. I'd be a lot more willing to accept his legit criticisms (eg, btc hasn't gone through a full econ cycle yet), if he'd quit it with the painfully obvious fear-mongering.

i believe sir, ISIS is using petro-dollar  Lips sealed

(besides USG supplies..)

They do seem nicely decked out in snappy NATO style gear and are driving around in a lot of U.S. manufactured equipment fresh off the assembly line.

Oh ya, now I remember.  3000 rag-tag 'terrorists' routed 30,000 U.S. armed and trained Iraqis who dropped all their equipment in a panic and ran for the hills.  Ya...that's the ticket!  The amazing thing is that nearly all Americans bought that one hook, line, and sinker.

Maybe my brethren can be forgiven since the accounts of the CIA training camps in Jordan and Turkey appeared only in the 'alternate' media and anything anyone reads there is automatically and 'conspiracy theory' and thus automatically the opposite of reality.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

And now they are using gold. LOL.
I may believe the news when they will get enough evidence about it.
Maybe the webste was just made by a bitcoin scammer to get more bitcoin out from the ISIS "subject"

I know for a fact that they don't know how to press the button on top of a toilet to flush it.

The only evidence shown for ISIS using Bitcoin has been one guy on some ISIS forum posting a Bitcoin link that brought in 5 bitcoins...in the US.

So, here you go:

Send bitcoins here and I will give the money to US soldiers.

Any truth about this?

Wulkan found a dark web site that urged supporters to donate bitcoin to the cause. The message, posted by a user named Abu Mustafa, stated that bitcoin donations are accepted by the cell.

"There was smoke, and now we have found the fire," Wulkan told Haaretz.

The bitcoin address listed on the site received around 5 BTC before being shut down. Furthermore, Wulkan said this could be a one-off fundraising effort, or even a hoax or a joke.

That is very horrifying to hear.  Sad

This could very well be a white flag operation by the United states to bring a bad name to bitcoin.

With the amount of trolls on this forum as of late I am beginning to wonder if they are all disgruntled alt supporters or possibly some government shills mixed in. We can only speculate.

Well even if you assume they are government FUDS, then the only thing they promote is to dump the price. In no way does a price decrease mean that bitcoin will cease to exist.
Fiat is used waay more for illegal activities so what's point of saying that about btc? Also they have to exchange it into fiat again.

The only online casino on which i won something. I made 17mBTC from 1mBTC in like 15 minutes.  This is not paid AD!

how so?

You're worried about what one guy in the US did?

Or are you worried that ISIS starts using Bitcoin and finds out how much better it is than fiat and implements and becomes a successful nation because of their superior currency?

Have you heard about what they're doing all over the world? Have you heard about their BIFF faction who killed 44 police in Asia.
ISIS should not be tolerated. It doesnt matter if they use bitcoin or fiat.

I don't watch Fox News so I don't track all of the bad things that ISIS does on a day to day basis.

Yet another group armed by Americans (John McCain) that didn't stay within the confines of what we wanted them to do.

Them using a trackable currency in the US would only help.

I'm not so sure about that.  Seems to me that they pop up as a pretty convenient boogie-man pretty much on cue whenever we need an excuse to bomb something or demonize something or whatever.

And just the 'news' that ISIS have beheaded someone sends the sheep into a panicked stampede.  It's a good thing that almost nobody actually watches the vids of the so-called beheadings...they are so damn fake it's genuinely funny.  The sad thing is that the very same day that one of the ISIS beheading was supposed to have taken place there were like 19 real ones in Saudi Arabia including one for 'witchcraft' and nobody in the U.S. gave a damn about that.  But the Saudis are our friends I guess.  Someday we'll achieve the goal of glorious Democracy in over there in the gulf monarchies.  I know that's true because when they called my ass back in for 'desert storm' a quarter of a century ago that's what they told me.

Well... bitcoin's transactions are almost immediate ( ~10 minutes if you include confirmation). I have a question though: what can a terrorist organization buy with bitcoin that they can't already buy with fiat?  Huh

People really think, they can stop them, if they do not use Bitcoin? There are a gazillion other ways for them to fund terrorism.

You can buy fake credit cards and debit cards and loads of other things online to fund these things. You only need 1 x AK47 to shoot a policemen in the street. {This has been proven in Paris}

We live in a VERY cruel world, where people need to justify their religion with guns. The USA have guns everywhere... Some people own heavy weapons, that can kill thousands, and it's legal.

I do not have the sollution for this sick world, but I know a mouth is better than a gun.

To try to stop Bitcoin, because a VERY small percentage of people might use it to fund terrorism, is in my opinion the wrong angle to follow.

And did you know ISIS also uses fiat, guns, ammo, cars, fuel, clothes, food, water, and even breathe oxygen? Maybe all those things are evil because they support crime!
