Hey!
Is it possible to vanitygen a BIP32 hierarchical address?

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

You could generate a vanity address yes, but only one address would be a vanity one. You would have to make a script that would generate a bip32 seed, add a nonce, grab the first couple of addresses and check if one fits the requirements for the vanity address, and if not increment the nonce and check again.

I don't think so. It's kind of pointless really, it's much easier to just import a private key from vanitygen into your wallet, though it won't be protected by the seed. |

No you can't import it "into the seed", you can import it into the wallet itself, electrum allows this. So if you restore your wallet from seed you will lose the vanity address unless you have the wallet file. |

Yep, they could. Though I don't think a tool exists to do that yet, it would be somewhat complicated, more complicated than the OP's proposal. |

It would be slow as you would have to generate the key from seed and check if that address happens to match your criteria. I think vanity addresses make more sense for single private-public key pairs. |

Also it will be very easy to generate the public from the MPK but say you found an address you like and you keep the "index" You will have to regenerate all private key prior to that index if all you backup is the seed and the index. lol in a way that is a nice spend preventer since you can receive bitcoins easily to that address but it would be hard to use the backup to spend. kinda nice to force yourself to not spend unless you have the dedication for it |
