With all these anonymous coins out there, I tried to find the best ones.

I found Shadowcash that seems really interesting with good dev' and community. Seems like this coin has a lot of potential with strong projects and annoncement coming along, maybe not as darkcoin but I thought it was worth having some informations about it.

Obviously, Darkcoin is the most popular and advanced one so I was wondering : what are the differences between ShadowCash and Darkcoin ? If someone could tell me it would be nice Smiley.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Well I am no "Rocket Surgeon" but let me try.

Darkcoin uses mixing and masternodes

Shadowcoin doesn't need mixing or masternodes.

Like rustynailer I am no "Brain Scientist"
Fortunately theres one on the case. A quote from #shadowcash IRC earlier today:

Quote
1:32 PM <battbot> isador zeuner is not only reviewing sdc but comparing it to cryptonote // monero

see: http://shadowtalk.org/topic/321/shadowcash-whitepaper-review-and-code-audit

This probably wont help much with SDC vs DRK but it will certainly help disambiguate SDC tech from the rest (esp Monero)

This is what I gather (apologies for any mistakes here):

1) Both SDC and DRK are Bitcoin forks

2) In order to achieve anon transactions:

-DRK created a second P2P network (called masternodes) to mix coins for the primary P2P network.
-SDC created a cryptonote-like (but NOT cryptonote) layer on top of the BTC blockchain, using traceable ring signatures, which utilise a noninteractive zero knowledge proof.

see: http://shadow.cash/downloads/shadowcash-anon.pdf

Therefor all peers in Shadow have the same status. There is no hierarchy. There are no "masternodes"

I personally feel masternodes represent points of failure (and trust) in what should ideally be a trustless P22 network. To this end, Shadow upholds the spirit of Satoshi more firmly than DRK

3) Anon transactions in Shadow are much faster. My understanding that mixing DRK can take a fair amount of time. Shadow is very fast.

4) DRK is a Proof-of-Work coin. Shadow is Proof-of-Stake.

5) Shadow has a p2p Encrypted Instant Messaging System (ShadowChat). DRK does not.

6) Shadow's roadmap includes an update to ShadowChat for voice, file and attachment upload + an in-wallet decentralized marketplace. DRK does not.

Theres something to get us started…

I feel the same like child_harold, that DRK's Achilles' heel is in its Masternodes (also partial centralization, which I don't like when it's about money).

Well, let me put it this way. You can either buy DRK for 0.0081 or stack up some sweet SDC for 0.00024.
Then, when the mentioned review is complete, you can either cry or enjoy your cheap buys ;)

That said, I'm obviously pro-SDC; sold all my DRK a while back and put it all in SDC. So yes, I'd vote for SDC.
But make your own opinion.. or you can always listen to strangers on the Net, hehe.

I will buddy Wink.
Thanks for your awnser ! In my opinion, SDC is very undervalued now. Some are going to tell me that everyone says the same about the coins he is holding but still, it has great potential and 24k sat is nothing.
I looked more about DRK and again, my choice goes to SDC. Thanks anyway for DRK dev', they made something huge !

Yep, SDC is insanely undervalued. Too bad I don't have more BTC now, would love to grab some more :]

Btw are you aware of the fact, that DRK tried to acquire SDC?

I have tremendous respect for the DRK crowd and developers as far as I am concerned they are one of the premiere alt-coins in community and resilience.

However, I feel that DRK is now becoming saddled with what was once 'cutting edge' tech and distribution and now it is beginning to turn into a liability.   DRK is a POW coin, meaning inflationary and having all the halmarks of BTC's 51% attack vulnerabilities which is becoming much more of a problem as the 'value' of mining continues to plummet.  Creating a easier and easier chance of the network becoming at risk.

Also the reliance on 'trusted' masternodes.   It sounded brilliant 1.5 years ago, but now I see outdated tech.

From what I can tell,  SDC is using a fully trustless software approach negating the need for masternodes and is POS so no more inflation.    Its just much fresher newer tech.   DRK is beholden to continue building on what was laid before.  Its immense work to change these code bases so I don't see it changing much anytime soon.

This is just my 2 cents.

SDC is a reimplementation of the CryptoNote technology using secp256k1 instead of EdDSA Schnorr signatures (hence it can't do some things that CryptoNote coins can, like cryptographically indistinguishable multisignature transactions). Gmaxwell did this a while ago, but didn't release it to the public because he was concerned it would just generate scam coins with unfair distributions seeking to capitalise on technology that was borrowed. DarkNote uses a hybrid Proof-of-Stake system to do coin-joining. That is, a series of master nodes is selected, you send them your inputs and intended outputs, then they help you mix them with the outputs of others.

a little update about that crypto review, this is taken from irc less than 15 minutes ago:

Quote
9:46 PM <•TrollsRoyce> my understanding of the forthcoming review is it will cover shadowsend in depth, any potential attack vectors found in the actual system and then a comparison between other systems, zerocoin, darkcoin, bitcoindark, cryptonote versus shadow

The main differance is the fact that Darkcoin is a outright scam!

Let's not get into a drk scam debate please. Drk passed the Scam accusations a while ago. That being said I have some drk, but the majority of my anon holdings is in sdc.

I don't trust you, DRK is maybe not as good as other "anonymous" coins like SDC and others for example, but it is definetly not a scam.

Shadowcash is some smalltime alt that you are pumping whereas Darkcoin is an established cryptocurrency with a huge following and a far greater degree of legitimacy and respect within the community (aka, anybody who knows anything about cryptocurrency).

That's the difference.
