Here's a video representation of what is mining you need to know what it is first and it's not profitable anymore but if you wants to do it for fun go ahead.

The easy way is your current computer + software.

The hobby way is some small hardware and software. More advanced is dedicated hardware. Serious is not worth it.

I would advice against mining BTC for the simple reason, that it's not profitable for solo miners to mine BTC at the moment.

You are competing against HUGE organizations, and your chance of solo mining a block is VERY small.

Rather mine ALT coins, and visit the MINING section on this forum for more detailed information ---> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=14.0

But then again, you might get lucky like this guy..... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=919087.msg10373711#msg10373711

Check out the "Monetary System" (MS) of Nxt, there are some coins which can only be "minted" by CPU.

Here is a link: http://nxt.org/about/monetary-system/

when you want to start with mining:

-dont make pre-orders

-only invest a little bit and see how it works

-learn how to secure your coins

-learn more about BTC

The best way you can try bitcoin mining is through cloud mining contract.
Basically, you either buy or rent hash power, and point it to your target server/designated server.

Most known is cex.io, where you can also trade hashes (buy/sell) like a market stock.

Imho, dont buy physical mining hardware, you will have a hard time both with return of investment, and with selling outdated machine later.

mining the cloud is not recommended in my view, I always minus the profit + other fees. like cex.io. that's my experience. all depends on you Smiley

If You want to mine just for fun, try to purchase a used ASIC hardware.

Or better, you can mine a "only CPU" alt-coin.

But remember that It will be "for fun", not profitable.

You need the hardware (asic miners) and the software (those downloadable "trusted" miners). But if you want to mine, don't mine btc directly. You'll end up paying for more than your profit.
