Hi. My name is Eric.

I have been interested in Bitcoin for about a year now, and still I'm fascinated.

I am starting a chess tournament with a Bitcoin prize! The prize is $100 in Bitcoin. There are only 8 spots available in this tournament. I will not be participating in the tournament, but will be organizing it.

IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT CHEATERS... Let me just say that we are playing a variant of chess that is near impossible to cheat on. This variant is called chess960. See for your self. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess960

Spots are still open!

The next tournament will have twice as many people and a $200 dollar prize in Bitcoin!

I am not going to give much info here. You will have to e-mail me to get the smaller details and reserve a spot.

There is a .07 Bitcoin fee in order to participate in the tournament in order to help fund the prize. Just think... you could turn .07 Bitcoin into $100 worth of Bitcoin!! e-mail me to check for availability, and to get more information. My e-mail is ...

Yes, it will be online multiplayer. It will all be done on a website. Reddit wasn't as enthusiastic about my idea. Glad to know that this forum is accepting of new ideas! If you would like to participate, e-mail me. Having you on-board would be a pleasure Smiley.

Post the URL of the site where the "fair gambling" will occur ... don't be shy.

I am able to watch all games that took place. If moves were put in impeccably, and without a delay, I could possibly disqualify for cheating.

lichess.org
The site allows users to send requests to other users, and keeps a database of all games played. I am going to tell people which requests to send and to who. I will let everyone play their games then I will go to the database and find the games. The database shows the result of the games, the time in each move, what each move was, and the players in the game. I will tally the results. Know the disqualified losers, and organize the next games. It's all a rather tedious procedure.

I watched that video on Derren's trick. It was extremely interesting. Thank you for that!

and... Yes the host gives out 100 keeps 24. You catch on quick don't you!

it's quite easy to cheat on a multiplayer game. Just find a good AI program and make the opponent play with the AI.

there might be a solution to this: "lightning chess" but it's not a good way to decide who's better player...
some people needs long time to think...

Yes I totally agree. Lightning chess is a possibility. But before we change the nature of the tournament... let me just say that I can review every game, and if I see something fishy, I will disqualify the cheater.

Well, why should we trust a newbie about being refree? First we need to trust you. You may disqualify an honest competitor...

You will host and moderate, and could have an inside person so of course it doesn't address any concerns.

Good point! Anything is possible. Besides an inside cheater would easily be noticed by opposition due to fast, and perfect moves. Then my reputation on the forums would be ruined. I don't have an inside person. That I can assure you of.

It's late where I am currently. I'll be off to bed. I will be travelling tomorrow so I should be able to keep replying the day after tomorrow. Until then, if you are interested in taking part in the tournament. E-mail me. I should be able to reply when I get back home. So far no one has e-mailed me so all 8 slots are open! My email is ericpfdz@gmail.com

See you guys in a day or two!  Grin

To: OP

I am willing to offer escrow for this tournament in order to increase the odds of this happening. I am a chess fan myself, and this seems like fun, but seeing that you are of the "newbie" status, people will most likely not trust you. I am offering to hold the funds of this tournament, without releasing any payments until it is publicity determined who is the winner. I would then send the prize money, and then the 24$ to you (minus $1 escrow fee).

To discuss, please reply to this post directly (to remain public)

Can't bots be programmed to put in a random time delay in there ?
