n a survey of investigative reporters that makes Richard Nixon’s enemies list look like child's play, nearly seven in 10 said they believe that the Obama administration has spied on their phone calls, emails and online searches.
According to a Pew Research Center survey of 454 media figures, 64 percent “believe that the U.S. government has probably collected data” from their calls and email and eight in 10 believe just being a journalist jumps the chance Uncle Sam is spying on them.
The survey follows multiple reports of actual spying by federal officials on reporters, and the White House’s effort to track down those who leak information to reporters despite long-forgotten promises to be the most transparent administration ever.
Still, most reporters said that they continue to plug away.
“Just 14 percent say that in the past 12 months, such concerns have kept them from pursuing a story or reaching out to a particular source, or have led them to consider leaving investigative journalism altogether,” said the survey of members of Investigative Reporters and Editors by Pew in association with Columbia University’s Tow Center for Digital Journalism. It does not matter if you are journalist or not. Everyone living a five-eyes country in "under surveillance". It is no secret that Intelligence agencies have taps on the telecommunications backbones that siphon off copies of all communications into storage facilities.

But do they have evidence they're being spied on are they just being paranoid. That being said I thought the NSA had access to everyones data so it wouldn't surprise me if they're snooping on journalists especially.

Knowing most are statist hacks, they probably love the attention from the fascist government that they lie and shill for every day.

Instead of being skeptical, in a healthy not too paranoid way about their own government, those people are skeptical about anyone and everyone else... Hum. It took me 5 seconds to find an article on a leftist journal telling the full story. Maybe people are lazy and do not know how to use google? Why is that I wonder on a forum based on the invention of a protocol that codes Not Trusting Anyone? Maybe I am paranoid and should keep popping those pills the doctor aldous huxley prescribed me...

Instead of being skeptical, in a healthy not too paranoid way about their own government, those people are skeptical about anyone and everyone else... Hum. It is noiticable, there were a bunch of loyalist morons before who would I would regularly pick fights with but lately there's been a bunch of newbie accounts being made and with the timing of it all I don't think it's coincidence in the slightest. If you also look at news articles I think they're being targeted as well because there was an article someone posted up in the press section which had only been posted up within a few hours and there was already anti-bitcoin, anti-decentralisation comments on it which was ridiculous only someone who had that shit on an RSS feed or was subscribed and was deliberately posting around to drive people away from cryptocurrencies. I'd expect it on Bitcointalk because this place is well known but on a barely read article that was only just posted up? Bullshit, the way to properly find out maybe would be to get some security experts to look at their I.P addresses maybe or something but I'm not that interested that I'd end up violating some random persons privacy just because I disagree with them, it would be hilarious though if it turned out they had their locations at military bases or something lol.

I agree they have good reason to believe this the US government has a long history of snooping wherever it needs to, Watergate would have started because they was snooping and found damning evidence that others new the corruption they undertook. I guess it's okay for them to do this by law as it would be under the guise of national security etc the terrorists of the future are the governments own people especially the journalists who uncover the truth. At least they are not physically harmed 'yet' who would know if they was taken away interrogated threatened with violence if they spoke out again death, black balled etc

The point is this. A .50 cal. rifle can shoot accurately over a mile these days. He who knows what's what, rules, especially if he can afford to covertly hire any number of snipers/hitmen. It's no wonder Congress doesn't get anything done. Even if they don't care about their personal safety, they all have relatives they care about.
