With the world cup around the corner, a lot of people must be punting on cricket. We need to popularize Bitcoin gambling amongst the hard core gamblers. It is so old fashioned to trust a bookie, who operates out of a dinghy room and has 8-10 mobile phones. If gamblers in India switch to Bitcoin, it could provide a big boost to the price.  PS - Somebody should start a thread on the world cup in the off-topic section |

I agree it is difficult for ordinary guys. But for big players, who can easily get dollars delivered to their associates in the US through hawala transactions, getting their hands on bitcoins shouldn't be that difficult. |

Would be nice to see more people gambling with Bitcoins. And it's not just great for the price, also the casino operators have good reasons to choose Bitcoin as a payment method because they can't be chargbacked unlike Paypal and credit card.

True, but I am not sure if the Kundras and the Meyyappans know about them. I don't think we can start a "Place Your Bets" thread here. It won't be easy to implement. |

Well there are already sites which do not require them to convert their FIAT to Bitcoins, and they can use CC's directly. So i don't think they would prefer doing it with bitcoin.

Betting is illegal in India. I definitely wouldn't be comfortable using my credit card, if I wanted to gamble. |

It is illegal, but it does happen. If the Meyyappans and the Kundras of this world use Bitcoin instead of shady bookies, we shouldn't be complaining. |

Probably have the people bet with bitcoins itself, but then they might flock to the sports betting sites online. Our bookies would probably set up their own websites... with much higher bets possible. Wouldn't put it past them - they almost set up mini-telephone exchanges to take bets. |
