This is interesting.  I've never seen FB accounts for sale before.  How much do they usually sell for and what would even be the point?  Purely a business thing or some sort of sociopathic scene?

Usually a business thing. You can easily get clicks. Plus its very hard to not having your account blocked with so many friends because you have to constantly confirm them in the early stages of your account. My accounts are made over 6 month period with no problems with lock outs there on.

Secondly is there any proof that the account is legit and not hacked?

I find it hard to believe if legit he/she would need to create a new account to sell it, i smell something fishy here.

Having ownership of it now does not mean someone else owned it just days before you hacked it and created a new account to try sell it here i hope you understand it looks like something isn't quite right here.
