Due to a forum hack that happened some time ago, the avatar was disabled due to security concerns. However, old members who had avatars before the hack will still have their avatar. Hopefully, we can change avatar in the next forum upgrade.

from what i heard of, in the new forum, everyone will be able to use avatar, but this isnt sure yet, or perhaps only high rank members will be able to use avatar

If you want it removed theymos will do so but he won't change them to something else, but I'd keep it if I was you.

Avatars will be back with the new forum though I think it might be a good idea restricting them to certain ranks.
