Unfortunately there's no such thing as chargeback protection when you use bitcoin.  It's a pitfall.  You'll save on fees vs. other methods, but you won't have any recourse if you get scammed.

The best chance of catching him is from fingerprints on the checks he deposited into traders' accounts.

I am really not sure why he is reusing the one address so many times. The fact that he uses the same address is going to make it very easy to track him and his alts via the blockchain. Someone even was able to find one of his alts already in the lending thread
