I was using Tor. Changing exit nodes didn't change the fee. I had to make another account, and that one cost 0.011BTC, which I ended up paying but is still way too much. There is no way accounts should cost this much, there should be a fixed fee for registering from a Tor exit node if this was caused by a large number of people being banned.

If you are really an attorney then there is no reason for you to use tor to sign up because your identity has already been established by your "letter" to theymos

That does seem a bit high. I'll have to look into whether the algorithm is working as expected. Maybe it isn't decaying fast enough. Though if tons of Tor users have been getting banned recently, a high fee is supposed to (temporarily) apply.

I have used Tor Before around here and I noticed that there are some actions that I cannot do when I am connected through Tor. But I never heard of such penalty or whatever  . Is this like a new thing around here and what would a person do to deserve such bann? 

I used to troll alot around here. I even pissed off gmaxwell at some point  . I did not get any "bann" or whatever. However some of my posts were "deleted by admins".

You only need to pay when you register an account on ip's that is use by banned accounts before.

There are people who want to have anonymity on the internet to prevent being tracked. If you create an account anywhere, your IP is likely to be tracked. Most people are just paranoid though, they can just buy a VPN/VPS and create an account using it.

Agree, this is one of the earliest forum available and is full of valuable and knowledgeable members. A few downtimes shouldn't make users leave.

I found the part about not directly giving your address to faucets fishy as hell...The most probable outcome is u will never be able to enterely pay the fee
