I guess some of the goal of the attack has already been achieved, even before the attack has begun. 50% of the exchanges that traffic in ltc have shut down in anticipation!

How is it bad?

Ensuring no double spending occurs is a good thing.

I think the goal was to discipline the litecoin community and all of its righteousness. By shuttering their exchanges a goal that serves the greater purpose of the attack is achieved. Certainly it throws water on the theory that it is a profiteering grab by BCX- why kill the exchange if you want to fork, pump and dump?

It is yea....but seriously, we have an exchange cowering by a threat causing even more panic by unsure investors?  How are bitcoin and litecoin supposed to hold up when they go mainstream when every internet troll can virtually shut down a currency exchange for a week?  Maybe we need more security then we thought?

Like I said, maybe more security is needed. Not just 51% either. It's interesting to watch though.
