Email "Free Yubikeys" Is it a scam?

Hi today I got an Email with the following text and Iam asking myself if it is a scam since not the original mtgox website is referenced, but instead a site named http://www.yubico.com:

Dear xxxxx,

Thank you for using MtGox.

We appreciate your presence and would like today to give you
a free Yubikey. Considering recent problems with hacked accounts,
hacked computers and more, we see the Yubikey as a good step
toward better security.

You can read more on the Yubikey from the Yubico website:
http://www.yubico.com/ - note that the yubikey we offer is only
usable on MtGox.


To receive your free yubikey, you just need to login on mtgox.com,
click "Order a Yubikey" in the menu, choose if you want either a
yubikey with our logo or not, and on the next page enter the
following code:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

(note: this code will expire end of January.)

Once done, you can fill your address, and confirm your order on
the following page. Please remember that the code can be used only
once (after confirming your address, the code will not be usable
anymore).

You can also give this code to someone else and let them get a
free Yubikey.

What does the email header say? is it from mtgox or spoofed?

Just go to gox directly and buy the key from there with the code provided. That's what I did and i did get my key.

You should know better than to click links in emails...

MtGox probably realized that the cost of distributing free Yubikeys was less than the cost of lost business in response to news of hacked accounts.

I didn't get it. I assume it's because I didn't have any aborted transactions when mt.gox was hacked.

I also got this exact email today.  Perhaps they only sent it out to people who have paid Gox enough transaction fees?    Was considering buying one anyways, so +1 to Gox for this

I was suspicious too.

I have successfully ordered the yubikey for free with the code.

btw. yubico.com is manufacturer of yubikey

I too once received such an e-mail and successfully ordered a YubiKey with it.  And I did not have any rolled-back trades on the day that trades had to be rolled back.

I recieved the code, copy/pasted it into the official site (I don't follow email links). Worked.

Wasn't around for the rollback mess, so I assume this was given to me because I've made a significant number of trades resulting in a lot of fees collected for Mt. Gox. I estimate that these keys set them back somewhere between $5-$10, so if you're making them say, 10x that amount in trade fees, they probably have no problem sending one your way.

I paid for mine when they came out. While I was initially a little upset people are getting theirs for free, it's ultimately a good move for Bitcoin as a whole so I don't mind anymore.
