I am getting a consistent 6.5MH/s at 1110 MHz. Any higher would result in crashing/dying too often.

http://i61.tinypic.com/2hzuagz.jpg

6.5MH/s net about ~0.0015 BTC/day @ ~$300/BTC (CAD) = ~$0.5.

Hello, I have a sapphire 280x vapor, get 4.2MH/s.

CONFIG:
I 18
g 2
w 64
thread-concurrency 8192
1100e/1500m
catalyst 14.7
sgminer_v5.1_2015-03-09

Is fine?

You are not using the fast .bin file made by Wolf0. Read Wolf's post above to get the fast bin file.

Txh my friend, now 6.4 MH/s

I stopped working on X11 for a bit - it's not really as profitable as the many other algorithms out there.

Which one are more/most profitable?

If we speak about r9280x, is there a difference in manufacturer?
Can someone (who have tried) put this in order from best to worst

sapphire
msi
asus
xfx
3d club
vtx3d
gigabyte
powercolor

I have free electricity and thinking of buying one or two, just don't know which to choose

Don't buy XFX for any reason. Powercolor are cheap, and 3D Club are, too. Dunno about VTX3D, haven't heard of them. Sapphire, MSI, ASUS, and Gigabyte are usually the top picks.

Thank you sir!

And don't forget to buy used GPUs. New ones are overpriced.

Hmmm but buying used its not good idea also - many GPUs have problems with fans after some time.
Buying new gives me warrenty of 2 yrs, if I buy used, dont know what I'm gettin, fan may be damaged..

The main problem with old miner is not the fan. It is the efficiency. 5XXX and 6XXX cannot be used any more as they are too power hungary and efficiency is too low. You will lose money mining with them.

It is not advisable to buy GPU for mining only.

Sapphire has most certainly by far the shittyest fans ever. I have to oil my fans on a regular basis, otherwise they start rattling as hell and spin slower so that in the worst case the cards may overheat. I believe Sapphire uses very cheap grease for their fans. Almost all of my cards had that problem at least once. However, once properly oiled, they work well again. Would recommend Gigabyte instead, no problems at all there.

Please share your hash rate and config setup with AMD R9 280x on X11 algo.

When I ran 280X I usually just went with default settings.  There's a lot to be said for the brand and overclockability too.  The Asus DirectCU II Top was good and the Sapphire Toxic was amazing.  If you want to play with overclock I recommend getting a good card for it.  Don't buy some crappy cut-rate card like a sapphire dual-x, powercolor, or XFX.  If you did well with these cards you were lucky and it would be 10 times easier and more efficient with the Asus or Sapphire Toxic.

Have opurtunity to buy (pretty cheap) PowerColor 280X - 155$. Should I grab it?
It's used, but OK with warrenty of one more year.

I know its not profitable to buy GPU for mining purposes today, but just to buy crypto and hold its not fun - mining is Smiley

You can spend less on Ebay.

If you want fun, then buy one. If you want profit, do not buy.
