Don't you just love the disconnect in logic? Just like spoons should be banned because they help drug dealers create drugs or brief cases need to be banned because sometimes they are used to transport drugs and other illegal susbstances.

Its like a broken tape allready, i agree. If you want to ban something, just go ahead and ban it allready, and stop with the maybe yes maybe not, its giving me a headache. I doubt theyre going to ban bitcoin, but i definetly think that there will be some more strict rules in how exchanges and other bitcoin related bussineses can act when dealing with it, and thats a good thing. cheers

As long as authorities will act quick on both the criminals and the customers, bitcoin in Hong Kong will be ok.

I wouldn't worry too much about a Hong Kong ban .. It would have a boomerang effect.. ban something and people become curious about it.

They could be really vague about it, not mentioning the name but rather targeting some sort of key functionality or just naming it as "virtual currency". Though it would still attract at least a bit of attention from those that actually decide to google the matter so guess that's true to some extent.

It will be up to masculine people to keep Bitcoin going, and we can't allow people to shame us into submission with their petty insults.

Are they going to ban cars too because bad drivers run people over with cars? This principle can apply everywhere. Bitcoin is NOT designed to be used in any ponzi/pyramid scheme. Hell you could pyramid scheme with lollies, clothes, jewels, anything you like. Bitcoin was just the selected commodity this time round.

Although they are not ignoring the issues involving bitcoin, Hong Kong will not be banning bitcoin.

There are short-term and long-term possibilities.
Short-term they could say yes or no - the decision will be localized to their opinions and thoughts without much outside pressure.
Long-term, depending on the success of bitcoin, they might find more pressure against them to move with the crowd.
Sorry if that didn't answer your question, was just trying to relay some perspective.

I agree with you but unfortunately people in power, authorities, don't use this logic. They act thinking what decision will please most their supporters, people around them, business groups which support their political campaigns... I don't see good outcome for BTC here.
