I'm pretty sure that this could be easily implemented in the new forum software, but I don't think it could ever be added in SMF, as SMF is really unstable, seeing that someone hacked the whole forum with avatars.

I know right , I keep asking my self why the hell Sirius and Satoshi made this choice to use Simple machines forum instead of vBulletin which have more security and also more known . Even if it's paid , but it does worth it .

~ Madness

Maybe when they started out, they used all there resources on creating Bitcoin and couldn't afford a vBulletin forum. I'm waiting for the new forum, they said around February, but it's the end of February now and no new forum yet.

It's not that expensive (the vBulletin forum) to be honest . It's about 300$ as far as I know , or they could simply download leaked versions but that may cause problems with the company (vBulletin).
Btw , you can forget the story for the new forum little bit  , because it may take some more time . Beta was expected in December and final release in Fed but none of this happened . so we should pass by a Beta first then the final release . so it's gonna take some time . I will say Summer .

~ Madness

Maybe they didn't have $300 bucks to spare. Has the beta ever been released yet? I was so excited for the new forum.
Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Here is the Source code of the new forum (seems like it got updated last time about 12 hours ago , glad to know that devs are working) : https://github.com/epochtalk/epochtalk , you can setup your own copy on your PC or VPS if you have some programming knowledge .

Ah ok, thanks. I find it strange that the new forum is open source as they spent 1 million on it, just generous I guess.

Just my honoust opinion and 2 Bitcents, but won't that make the pages load far less quick for some people?
Not to mention security hazards and added server load. No thanks...

The whole page loads before the video, so that wouldn't be a problem. The server load would go to Google, which I'm fairly sure has the way to handle it.

About security... I don't know, but I think there shouldn't be a problem either.

An economy based on endless growth is unsustainable.

Same thing goes for security I guess , Flash is known to be unsecure as far as I know but as some people said above HTML5 should be fine and YouTube started using it also but not all of them have the ability to be Embeeded unless you add =HTML5 or something like that (check posts above), not sure about Vimeo & Dailymotion and other famous video providers .

I would vote no on this feature simply because when you get a video section people posting and abusing videos it gets intensive on bandwidth used on site and loading of pages with lots of videos on can often and did crash some instances of firefox when had one topic have about 30 videos all rammed into one and some people even had auto play on. So this feature soon got disabled and only allowed for individual groups who could be trusted with the feature that was good once decided on having it added to only long standing group members who earned it and works pretty good that way.

Having embed videos option would cause nothing but problems to be made available for everyone to post.

Maybe there could be an option in settings to turn off showing the embed videos? For example, if you are on mobile you would turn this embed videos off, and if you are on a fast desktop you would turn them on.

That will be good. For slow networks, turning off flash, image etc... codes is better for fast loading. This option should be available and appropriate place will be 'Forum Layout and Preferences' IMHO.
