I have an AntMiner S3 that had a burning smell for a couple days, and now it will not power up.
I have taken off the heatsinks, and looked for any signs of a burnt asic, but not finding any.  What
are my options ? Sad

Are you 100% sure that S3 burned and not the PSU? Try with different PSU just in case, also you can perform detail check of other parts controler board etc.

Yes, I did overclock it.....the PSU still works just fine.

options  do you have another one?

if you have a working one let us know.

for now plug in one board on the s-3 and detach the other board from the controller.  if it works you found the dead board.

if it does not work plug that board in and unplug the other board if it works you found the dead board.

if neither way works  you need a second miner that fully works.

pull the controller from it.

pull the controller from the dead machine

attach the controller to the good machine and plug in only 1 board .

it that board works plug in the second board if it works you have 2 good controllers and 2 dead boards.

if neither board from the good machine works with the controller from the dead machine you have a dead controller.

if you want to complete the testing take the good controller and attach 1  board from the dead machine  to it  if it works that board is good.

then  attach the second board to it if it works  you burned up the controller not the boards.

You can try swapping the Control PCB with ethernet port, and see if it will start to hash.  but, I suspect if something was burnt or melted, it is more likely one of the hashing PCB.
