7170 BTC got stolen from our cold wallet in this transaction:

720 BTC bounty for chasing it back.
All wallets have been shut down and withdrawals of unaffected coins will be arranged later.

Extremely unprofessional to say the least. This is why users should look to exchanges which use multisignature features like https://BIT-X.

Use an exchange to exchange then withdraw to your own wallet!

Seems like some users will lose part of their BTC balance.

Loosing 7K from "cold storage", at least 5 private keys was compromised.
When you trace back, these "cold" addys, they where clearly not cold at all, they had F***** 7K in their hot wallet!

A first year grad student in Information Security can do better than that.
At least bitstamp did not have all the freaking coins in their hot wallet.

(Excuse me for my language, but I get upset about people who do not do their job properly)

Cryptography is one of the few things you can truly trust.

They aren't a huge exchange so their profit isn't huge I'd imagine

1.7 million dollar is a decent amount of money to be honest , don't think they afford losing that amount of money.
But well .. It's just another inside job if you ask me . anyone on their company who have access to those sensitive informations can simply take the Bitcoins and walk away and no one will know anything about anything .
