Great news for the Electrum technology!

Mazacoin's developers have released, 10 days ago, a Multi-Coin version of Electrum.  Based on the latest release of Electrum, Encompass amalgamates many coins in one interface, allowing to change from one coin to the other in a few seconds (select new coin in the menu bar).  It uses the BIP44 standard for each coins.  Meaning, that one seed is used for all the coin types in your unique wallet.

Coins currently supported are MZC (of course), LTC, BTC and VIA.  DRK is currently under review (pull request) by mazaclub team members.

It only requires a coin developer to submit one page of code (the coin specs) to Encompass, to add a coin to the service - great idea!  Of course, coin developers have to provide the Electrum servers to support their coins, as this interface is only for the client part of the system.

Encompass currently supports the following POW algorithms: Scrypt (LTC, VIA), SHA256 (BTC, MZC) and soon X11 (DRK).

Github: https://github.com/mazaclub/encompass
reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/mazacoin/comments/2v1ms5/multicurrency_lightweight_hd_bip0044_wallet/
developers:  https://mazacoin.org/development-team/

PS: Trezor support is currently disabled, pending further testing.

I haven't seen any active servers for Electrum Doge.  The IRC channel doesn't list any (#electrum-doge).

The Electrum Doge project is dead. But anyone is free to revive it. I heard the devs didn't have enough time to properly and securely implement AuxPOW and so they eventually just abandoned it.

I think the Encompass client is an awesome idea. Anyone that has some alts also has Bitcoins, usually. So a single client is great. Hope you get the Trezor testing done soon Smiley

Multi-currencies Encompass v.0.5.0 wallet finally released!

The new version adds support for Trezor hardware, with BTC-LTC-DASH (provided that firmware 1.3.3 is installed on Trezor).  All three coins on the same device.

It also provides Multisignature support for BTC-LTC-DASH-MZC-VIA.  2of2 / 2of3.

Signed Binaries and source available at https://github.com/mazaclub/encompass/releases for Linux, OSX and Windows.

Hello,

latest Electrum wallet has BTChip(Ledger) hardware wallet support. Do you plan to add it to Encompass?

This seems to be a pretty good idea! Didn't knew Trezor supported currencies beyond BTC! As for Dogecoin and Reddcoin both Electrum clients were discontinued. On Reddcoin it was replaced by the Browser Wallet (which is basically a thinner Electrum client that still connects to the old servers)

Hello,

Electrum does support BTChip/Ledger, however the way to enter the verification code, IMO, needs more work from the Ledger guys, to be considered user friendly.

I prefer complicated verification than no support for Ledger at all. Ledger is selling more HW wallets than trezor now and they will soon flood the market with really cheap HW wallets. I bought one for 15 EURO only(including free delivery). Ledger is the future of mass adoption. And Encompass is the only wallet with multicurrency support. I installed Encompass only because of LTC support for trezor and I hope it will have Ledger support too.

I bought a trenzor and want to use my Encompass wallet with it for litecoin.
Could someone please post some clear directions on how to do that?

I was able to send Litecoin to my Encompass wallet, but unable to get it back out. (was a small amount for a test luckily),

and admittedly I have no idea how to get Encompass working with the Trenzor.
I can't find any directions.

Thank-you VERY much... KUDOS

... didn't realize it would be like Rocket-science...lol

install python, Cython, MS visual studio 2008, compiling, cloning directories... (readme instructions)

Wow.. whatta mess!

Hopefully they can streamline the process into a nice installer package someday soon, and include "Directions for Dummies" hehe

stuck here:
Add "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0" to system PATH....      to system path? wtf?
Clone repository (using TortoiseGit) to local directory.....................................   huh? repository?  "Greek" to me... what local directory? c:/?
Run C:\python27\python.exe setup.py install (or develop).......... there is no python.exe in the package...  ?  and  setup.py doesn't run, it opens a cmd window for a fraction of a second...and closes.

...obviously I'm clueless

...regretting buying Trenzor so far...  the Trenzor wallet runs fine, but as for using encompass with it... wow.

That worked...  loading the Windows Electrum wallet installer made it me possible to access Trenzor through Encompass and even without the Trenzor web wallet running... fully functional.

Note... On Encompass you must set the fee manually to .001 minimum to get it to send without a ltc network error

THANK YOU!

EDIT...  Now I'm wondering if I can get Encompass to run portable on a usb stick if I were to install electrum on it in the same fashion....     any thoughts?

A request for the next update/version....

Please change it so that the stand alone version will be able to run from data stored in the same folder. Making use of the default AppData folder on windows makes the stand alone/portable version a bit useless as its not portable.

I don't understand the need to be "portable" on a USB.  What do you gain?  Electrum or Encompass are open-source - you can always download a version.  Keep a copy in the cloud if you are afraid the software will vanish someday.

I work mostly on a desktop PC but also make use of 2 laptops while traveling. Having Electrum/Electrum LTC stand alone/portable versions on a USB drive together with all the data and wallets makes it much easier to just slot the USB drive in when I need to do transactions. If I had to make use of the standard windows install it would mean having it installed on all three computers and then keeping all the wallet files in sync with labels and what not.

Far easier just to carry it on a USB drive where everything is together in one place. Also, uploading a copy to the cloud will be a bit pointless unless you upload your wallets there as well and that is a security risk.

Would prefer to just use Encompass for both BTC/LTC but the current version does not allow for the data and wallet files to be stored on the usb drive so it makes the stand alone version on a usb drive a bit pointless.

YES... exactly. I have 5 computers...  Three of them are laptops which are tailored for each type of business I do mobile locally, and still I find reasons use public computers occasionally...
It would be really cool and useful if it were portable.  I'm betting we can figure it out.

edit: I'm reading now there IS a portable version.
https://github.com/mazaclub/encompass/releases
https://github.com/mazaclub/encompass/releases/download/v0.5.0/Encompass-0.5.0-Windows-setup.exe

I'll report back after testing this....

That was easy.  Dropped the .exe into the usb, installed it to that directory. Runs like a wet dream, no problem. Fully portable.
Now I'll try the trenzor tweak on the same usb stick....
Works great. It instantly imported my trenzor webwallet balance onto the usb stick.
New directions....
step 1.  Download this:  https://github.com/mazaclub/encompass/releases/download/v0.5.0/Encompass-0.5.0-Windows-setup.exe
step 2:  install it to the desired device directory.
step 3: run it.
step 4: Create your Trenzor hardware wallet using Encompass.
...click  "file"  dropdown menu appears... choose new/restore
.... enter the desired wallet name
.... choose "hardware wallet"
.... choose "trenzor".
It then goes right to work, and asks for your pin.
It was that simple.

Tip: make sure your Trenzor is connected before running Encompass, and you DON'T have the webwallet open in your browser before you start... otherwise it won't recognize the device.

The Encompass stand alone or portable file is not truly portable. Yes its a stand alone exe file that can be run from the USB drive but it still creates its folders under the default AppData folder on your C drive if you are using Windows.

So the problem is that when you take your USB drive with you you only take the exe file and not your wallet files etc.. so all the data stays behind which is pointless.

With Electrum and Electrum LTC I have all my data on the USB drive so all my wallets, history etc.. resides on the USB drive and I can access the wallets from any pc.

On the Encompass website it states that the data folder cannot be changed at this stage so it will keep on pushing the data to your c drive. Once this is changed it will be fully portable.

Is anybody here using Encompass with DASH?

I've been having problems since around Friday with my Dash wallet not syncing anymore. It shows no connection but when I go to Networks and change the Protocol option to TCP it connects and says Synchronizing.... but that's all that happens. Nothing actually gets downloaded.

I checked in the data folder and see the file 'blockchain_headers_dash' but it does not increase in size meaning that no new headers are actually being synchronized even though Encompass shows it is being synchronized. According to the information provided in the Network screen its block 219,743 so still a way to go.

Was wondering whether anybody else had this problem too and or if somebody might know how to get past this problem.

My BTC and LTC wallets sync without any problems.
